Going drag racing this weekend
Hey guys. I'm excited about racing my car this weekend. I have prepped it for the strip. Removed almost everything I could from the interior. I'm getting my 26x11.5x16 M/T Steets mounted right now on some stock 16x8's. I'm going to try to borrow JS's skinnies. And then drive it like I always do. Only this time I'm gonna test out the Moser rear, and my origional(56k) clutch!
I think it'll do ok. I'm gonna try 18psi in the Streets and 5K launches. My previous best was a 12.839@107.42. This was in pretty much street trim, open cutout, removed spare/jack, 1/4 tank of gas. coming out at about 3,500-powershift at 5800.
Since then I added
Thunder MAF ends
1LE elbow
Holley 52mm TB
Redline 5w30 oil
Meziere EWP
SLP line lock
Removed splash guard for CAI
Removed everything pretty much besides carpets, console, dash, and seat belts from interior
M/T Streets on factory 02 16x8's
15x3.5 Weld front runners
What does everyone think she'll run? I'm figuring mid 12.2's @ about 111
All this and I'm still totally stock internal! NA, and never had the valve covers off. 56k origional miles, origional owner. LT1/M6
Next up is my PPC longtubes(hopefully by the end of the month)
And possibly a SPEC Stage 3 w/ billet steel flywheel.
And then the real fun will begin

I also thought about 15psi cold. I guess I'll find out when i get there. See I'm afraid if the tires hook too good then my clutch will just slip and get all heated up.

Cool man. Great to be excited about going to the track.
I would run around 12 to 15 psi with your tires. The stock clutch should last at least 5 to 6 passes before getting to bad. I would start off at 5,000 rpm dumps.
Check your weight out if your track has a scale and report your results.
Good luck to ya. Have fun Brother!

I hope we all run NEW BESTS That always makes me happy. I just drove my car for the first time after removing everythig from the interior. Definetly a lil snappier. I can also feel a slight loss of traction, but thats what the Mickeys are for

Hey guys. i didnt get to the track last weekend but I went last night to Atco. Track and weather conditions were MUCH worse then when I ran the 12.839@107.42. DA was about 950 compared to about -500. I ran with some brand new M/T ET Streets 26x10.5x16. All my mods were as I posted before except I didnt get to borrow JS's skinnies so I had the heavy 17" SS wheels up front. Here are my 6 best runs:
1.848
12.903@107.28
1.809
12.875@107.44
1.812
12.835@107.21
1.747
12.786@106.72
1.737
12.792@106.60
1.736
12.793@106.69
On the last run i dumped the clutch at 5,000. It moved out pretty good with no spin. The revs dropped some but it didnt bog. I had the tire pressure at 10psi(cold) on that run. 10-12 seemed to work the best.
I was some what dissapointed with the times but the weather and track had a big factor. I think there is mid 1.6's left in the stock clutch/ET's on a prepped track. How much does everyone think the weather played a part? I'm figuring 2 tenths. So hopefully if i can get the launch a little better, borrow some skinnies, and get somebetter weather I can be runnnig close to 12.3's. I was dissapointed with the mph as well but I guess thats what M/T's will do with 10psi in them and not great air. Overall I had fun and was glad to get new bests

nice runs! usually the DA account for a tenth in et for every 1000 ft, so I'd say the air alone probably cost you 1-1/2 to 2 tenths. If you get an awesome launch and drop down to low 1.6 60 foots, I'd say in mineshaft air you can pull some 12.40s, maybe 30s but that's pushing it. Never know though, that why we keep racing!
