Default 12.20@114, stock internal/converter new best

Went to No Problem Raceway last night looking to set a new best time for the Z.My previous best had been a 12.24@113.5, so the 12 teens were calling my name, or so I thought! LOL
I made 1 change that I thought shouldn't matter too much. Last time I had convo pros with 275/50/15 Nitto DR's on the back. This time I had factory snowflakes with 245/50/16 Nitto DR's on the back.
Out of 6 runs, my best was a 12.20@114.01, 1.82 60ft, 7.86@90.21 1/8th.
4 of the 6 runs were in the 12.20's@114
On a 12.30@114.0 run the car spun(1.90 60ft)
On a 12.33@113.2 I tried some convo pros with 26x10.5 ET Streets on them, slowed it down obviously.
I didn't get my teens, but for stock internal/converter I can't bitch! LOL
A converter and shift kit are in the works, so I'll let ya'll know what happens.
I'll list mods below just in case anyone wants to know. Take care,
Philip(Stew)@ Thunder
Mods: whisper lid, holley filter, asp pulley, ported tb, Thunder Racing long tubes, 3" ory, hooker catback(no cutout), free ram air mod, 3.42 gears, convo pro skinny fronts, short belt, Nitto DR's, removed front sway bar, rear seat, and spare tire.

Car was running great Stew! It will fly with the verter and gears for sure. How big of a stall you plan on going? I finally got mine back in the 1.7 60 ft range with the Nittos. I thought I was screwed with the 4.30 gears and Nittos but a little practice and 6 runs later I went from 2.0's to 1.76 and was getting quicker every pass untill My Neice was ready to leave and FIgured I was happy just being back in the 1.7's. My best last night was 11.86 @117.55 mph with 1.76 60 ft. Car was 3700+ lbs

Very fast times for the mods. The MPH is impressive for an auto at the track. Wish I could get that with mine. How much does your car weight? Cheers.......

AINT SKEERED, thanks, I plan on going 4000 or more on the converter. Your car was runnin and lookin good!

Wesley SS, thanks

Hugger_99 and Kent 1, Every car is different, just need to visit the track every now and then and figure out your right combo.

As far as raceweight, I would be lying if I told anyone, I have never weighed it. I would rather 4 corner the car than go to the Cat scales, but we have no 4 corner setup! LOL I am gonna go to the Cat scales this weekend and get some numbers! Stew

yall are killing me, you were all setting new best times and i was stuck running my F250. stew, i just noticed that you didnt have a fast toys kit. im am almost sure that would have given you the teens you wanted. i think we should try one more time with the fast toys kit. i noticed a sotp difference from a 30 roll with mine so its definatly worth a little. oh yea, order the ytp 4400

aint skeered, the car was looking and sounding good, but never saw it run.

RED01CHEVY, thanks, you may have me confused with someone else? Maybe Jason Reibert? My car still has the 84000 mile factory bumpstick!
Smokin 01, I wanted to try and do a fabbed dual inlet ram air setup. The fast toys is cool and it works, just wanna try something different

redsscamaroboy, the car has the stock shift points, stock tuning, the only reason the computer has been out is when I changed from 2.73's to 3.42's.It needs to come back out as part throttle shifts come in too early, but wot shifts work fine!

hugger_99, good luck with your car, hope you meet your goal!

Kent1, there is no secret or hidden mod on the car, but i can tell you this. I just got back from local CAT Scale, the car weighs 3280 with factory 16's on it and 1/2 tank of fuel. At the track, I run 3 1/2 convo pro front runners on the front and a full tank of fuel(93 octane). The car also dynoed 345rwhp, air fuel was 13.1-13.5, the day before I went to the track. It has helped me out having access to a dyno at my work, as I have made over 30 pulls with the car since buying it last November. I have also stuck with my first goal with the car, run as quick as I can stock internal/stock converter. A 4000 plus stall will be going in the car soon, and I will post times with each visit to the track. Take care, Stew@ Thunder

3280?! How? Have you done any weight reduction mods? I swear mine weighs in the 3500+ range w/o driver. My 3.42's go in soon, then I'll slowly do all the other little bolt ons. I can only hope that my car runs half as good as yours does. Congrats!

Stew01z.........The car is fast for a stock internal convertor. With a 4000 or more convertor.......the car should run a good eleven thru the quarter...you already have the MPH to obtain an eleven....thanks for the information and try and get the eleven. cheers......

86 Iroc, The car is one of the lighter ones to begin with.It is a hardtop with the only options being A/C, rear window defroster, and monsoon cd player. I believe the option code for the car is 1SC? (somebody please correct me if I,m wrong). I have the front sway bar removed, rear seat removed, and run it without the spare tire and jack in it. The passenger seat stays in the car when I run it, and I keep the fuel tank full for ballast(maybe i shouldn't). I could probably remove the bumper supports, a/c, pass seat, etc but the car is a driver and is nice like it is. I will go tubular on the suspension in the future, though. BTW, the car went 12.89@108.5 last November with the 2.73's, lid, filter, hooker catback, and gutted converters, on Goodyear RS-A radials. The higher option cars are gonna run a little slower because of the weight, so don't be discouraged. You just have to get your combination right and dialed in!

Kent1, thanks again!

Nice times Stewdaddy!

But I must ask...WTF are you doing with a full tank of gas in your ride at the track?

Save the 66 or so pounds and race with 4 gallons.
I always felt that if I didnt leave the track with the low gauges light on I was leaving something on the table.

There is your 12.1x right there
