These fittings had a little lip inside the socket, I just ground out that lip.
Smooth it out, so to speak. Then the braided part when up in there.
The best way I found to cut the line, was to tape it and cut it with a cut off wheel.
Nice and square and no frayed lines.
I'm so happy I got this done, I'm going to take Rene' out to dinner!

I use my 4" grinder with a thin cutoff wheel on it. Works perfect, doesn't fray anything and almost welds the steel strands together from the heat, works even better with black line as it melts the ends.

You shouldn't have to grind the fitting. That compromises it capacity imo.

Cable cutters is the ONLY way!

I'm guessing those that use any other method than a hammer and chisel have never tried a hammer & chisel. I've been doing it that way for 25 years, fast, clean, smooth cut with no fraying.

I have done the hammer/chisel thing. It's not nicer than cable cutters.

I appreciate the input, I just guessed that most didn't realize what a good job a hammer & chisel did on SS braided hose. I ran miles of this **** in the 80s & 90s in an industrial environment and had every tool available to us; we preferred using a hammer & good sharp chisel.

They cut the same really, just shear force. But cable cutters, you need to buy them. Not everyone has a big nice set, then they take up alot of room (you need a 3-4ft long set to cut braided -10 and bigger, and not be tired after making 4 cuts. If you have to make 10-25 cuts and not jacked my little arms get sore 2 people is a big help too, hammer its fine alone, but at night its kinds loud too if you in you home garage. The cutter is not, thats all I can think is better, its up to you.

I gotta disagree again. The regular ones you buy from summit or jegs will not open up far enough for the larger line, however, if you cut that pin out it will. I cut -16 line with mine and they are shorter than 2'.
