Default What options for heater after you remove it

I would like to remove my heater and its components (already removed A/C) and I was wondering what options there are or what most of you are doing? I would occasionally need it for the mild winters here but I think mostly for the fogged up windshield in the morning. I think I read about some you can plug into your cig lighter or a power inverter. Cant quite remember. This is a weekend car, 95 T/A. Thanks!

I looked into this idea.

What I found was that electric heaters are not an option.

1000btu equals 1000watts

the normal auto heater core supplies 20-40,000btu... /~14V would be 1500-3000 amps....

You can get little 1000W/1000btu electric heaters, but I dont think they would be noticeable.

I used a heater from summit. Mounted it in the middle of the car behind the dash and ran one hose to the defrost and the other for my wife's feet. It's the two hole one in the catalog. And I used the factory switch to be stealthy. About $150 for it and worth every penny and it doesn't radiate heat badly in the summer either.

Definately look at Studderin's thread. "Cam only, winter upgrades, bitch in on a diet". He made on out of a heater core and the stock blower motor and housing.

How much heat did it put out? Did it actually defrost the windshield? Studderings heater is nice, but to be honest I'd like to get rid of heater hoses and all. Im in South Ga, on the Fl. line so it doesnt get that cold here.

I have sprayed the inside of the windshield with the stuff we keep dirt bike goggles from fogging up, i have heard of people using wax as well. Of course this would not be the first choice for a dd but it does the trick for weekend/track toys.

definately enough to keep me toasty in oct here in wisconsin. and to defog my windshield. that is teh same one i used and it weighed i beileve 11 pounds with teh brackets and i didnt lighten teh brackets at all yet. but you still have to use the heater hoses. or go to harbor freight and they have a lil doo hickey that might work.
