Default trying to slow down for a class***UPDATED**

Anyone else done this?... car runs 12.70 need to be at 13.00...tried before letting off at a certain spot on the track was close but need to be 13.01-2 to win...kinda worried about breaking the cable....going to fold up a small towel and stick it behind the gas pedal...can adjust stop as needed

Be sure to post results back to this thread, I have been thinking of trying the exact same thing.

The throttle stop will work fine. Just get the feeling right so you know when you hit the stop and dont stretch the cable. Some how I am a pro at letting off just enough to cut some tenths.

Make sure you can log TPS if you do this. You want your PCM to use the WOT tables in your tune. I assume you are bracket racing and this can make your consistency go to hell.

Is short shifting an option? If you can set it right it should make you harder to drive around on the big end

I just use the 2step and lower the launch rpm to dial it in. 500 rpm less on the launch will get you close.

Using a quart more and thicker (guys use 30 wt a lot for that) oil is an easy ten to fifteen hundredths, that and a couple hundred lbs should get you close to two tenths. Short shifting a couple hundredths. I use 25lb bags of lead shot. If you don't have a weight box in the car, after you go through tech inspection you could just wrap them in a dark tee shirt and drop four in the well in the trunk, a couple behind each seat. I have to put mine in a ballast, or weight box. I see guys putting them behind the seat sometimes. They usually wrap them in old shirts the same color as their carpet. Nobody seems to notice. I tape my shot bags up with duct tape or they always start to leak. Bass Pro has them in the fire arms dept.
Also lower air pressure in the tires help slow you down.

If you have HP tuners you could pull some timing and is pretty simple to adjust for weather and track conditions

Timing and weight is the best way to drop ET imo. I slowed my car from 12.20 to run 12.50 index by pulling 5 degrees and adding about 50 lbs. Ran within .03 all weekend.

Adding weight makes it leave like a turd tho. Timing will do the same unless you pull it from the upper rpms. I need to get to 12.00 myself, just like every other year Lol.

Who said leaving like a turd is a bad thing as long as you can cut a light?

I've noticed that short shifting my car is worth up to .3
Hell I'm no bracket racer by any means, but I've managed to keep
Mike within .002 on half a dozen passes
