Default So what is the deal with A/C?

I have already removed everything but the black box on the firewall!
Now I don't care about A/c but heat and defrost would be nice!
My 2 problems are (1) what are the 2 lines coming out of it do they go into the car? (2) I need one of those lines for my incon turbos

I heard from someone that there are like 2 black boxes one on the outside of the firewall for A/C and one on the inside of the firewall that has the blower motor. And that the out side one can be blocked of and the inside one will still give you defrost maybe heat to?

Has anyone done this? Do I have to drill holes in the block off plate to run the coolent in?

I am very lost here please help!

It sounds like you are talking about the box that has the E-Core in it, this is only for your A/C. The two lines do not run into the car they run right into the E-Core itself. The Blower motor is in a box by itself behind the dash on the far right side of the car. If you are wanting to retain your heat keep the heater core in it is is also by itself behind the dash and is where the two hoses coming off the water pump running into the firewall are located.

So the E core is A/c only (can go).
I can run new lines for the turbo tap when I trash the E core!
And what will I be left with heat/defrost?
So people that are removing the black box on the fire wall are removing everything?
Do they (gm or other) make a different shap black box for only e-core? Like the 1991-1992 camaro 1LE cars had?

You do relaize that if you remove your AC your defrost won't work very well right? It will still blow like normal but won't even come close to the same performance as a car with the AC. Just a thought.

I removed it all. No need to have A/C or a heater in a RACE CAR!

If you remove the E-Core you will still have heat, and you should still have defrost how will it will work i don't know, i removed both a/c and heat from mine. If you do take the E-Core and the black box out be aware it is a PITA, and you do have to pull the entire dash out.

I removed the entire HVAC monstrosity from my 98 TA. That is one hideous huge box!
Took everything out. Then reused the stock fan and heater core and made my own light custom heater box that fits up behind the glove box and ran some ducting for windshield defrosting.. Just for those cold nights.
The new box is 9lbs vs about 35-40 for the entire factory deal. Plus it really opens up room underhood.

Ok I see the pic now If I did it like the pic what would I have (heat/defrost).
I guess what I am asking is what the water lines have to do with heat and defrost or cool air(not a/c). I thought the crap in the engine bay is A/C and everything in the car is other! NO<---->YES

you do know that your heater uses engine coolant for heat right?

I did not reuse any portion of the stock HVAC box. I removed the heater core and the fan from the Mammoth factory box and then boxed them up myself. Heat in the car is from the coolant of course.
I don't know what the deal is with this thread as my pics always show up in other threads
I'll see if I can snap some pics of the new heater box located behind the glove box.
AC is usually on with defrost that is correct. However just heat works pretty good in keeping the windows clear. My car is no daily driver but having heat is nice when it drops down into the 40's at night at the strip in cool weather.
I would not do this to a daily driver.
