newbie question here
Here is my best run from the first time at the track. Keep in mind it was 84F and humid!:
R/T- 1.101 (not worried about this one yet, lol)
60- 2.226
330- 5.930
1/8- 8.945
MPH- 82.55
1000- 11.463
1/4- 13.589
MPH- 107.05
Now, I know my 60' time sucks major ***. My mph is good for high 12's I think. I'm still on street tires, and would like to know what psi to run. I ran this with ~36psi and got REAL squirrely when I yanked 2nd. In fact, my first run I had to let out of it! I know I need to lower my psi, but how much, and would this help my traction when grabbing 2nd gear?
Also, what are some other easy/cheap ways to lower my et's/get better traction besides the 60' (I think I can get it down to a 2.0X)

Congrats! Now...
R/T - Put down the Cell Phone. Learn your RPM by ear. Practice holding a rpm then close your eyes. Bring it to the same RPM.
Stare at the 3rd yellow. Try to turn it on with your mind. Be one with the 3rd yellow. The second it flickers, BANG. Do your business.
60' - Normal for street tires. Do you dress in coveralls for a date? Then don't wear rain tires to the track.
Other splits - You are either shifting a little slow, or not reving high enough.
ET - Normal for stock LS1 on street tires.
MPH - Normal for your mods in hot, humid weather.
12's? Tires, practice. You have the HP.

Pulling slips...
Reference numbers:
2000 SS Camaro bone stock:
60' - 2.33
ET - 13.59
MPH - 106.32
This was the first time I drove a car at the dragstrip. What you can see is a slower 60', slower MPH, but same ET. You need to wind it out, and shift in a hurry.

I'll agree, the mph is there to run high 12s, but it'll take a kick-*** 60 foot time in the low 2.0 or high 1.9 range and some speed-shifting. I ran my goodyears at 26 psi and got a 2.00 once but that's in an auto. Still with practice you should be able to coax faster times from your ride. Good luck!

Nitto's and practice - then 12's are yours! Which track do you go to? Hope to see you out at Capitol some time. I go Saturdays if the weather is good - if it looks like rain, I'll go Friday night.

i suggest drag radials and a crowd-choker second gear burnout....that should hook u up...
also, if you are gonna run on street tires more, i've found 26 psi works pretty good but anything below that is overkill...
