I have had two sets of double adjustable shocks that I had to send off to be re-valved. Adjustable doesn't mean you can adjust them far enough to "get there".
Most top chassis shops use Strange or AFCO, probably for a reason. I learned, the expensive way, to not try to save money there.

Revalving is not all that uncommon for the guys that really race a lot. I have setup shocks for the likes of Ohio Boys(LSX DR), LASTLS1(Andy(LSX DR)), Brian Black(X275) and many other racers. These guys are going 1.1x 60s on 275 and 315 radials so I would think we kinda have a clue. From my experience even with the Afco shocks all these guys are on there is a limit to what Afco is capable of and to get to the top like my customers are then sometimes the "best" isn't good enough. It comes down to collecting data and making the shocks work for what you are doing. The Afco shock tuneup for Brian Black's car is completely different than the shocks on Mike Brown's car...and so on. So when that "special valving" terms are spoken about it may not be all that special.

I am here to tell you that the new Viking shocks are a contender. I have the dyno sheets for Afco, Strange, and Viking shocks. Viking is an up and coming company and they have every intention of putting out the shocks that will perform with the best. In the meantime they have a great street/strip shock that is very high quality and currently the best bang for the buck, and includes an unmatched 2 year warranty.

Midwest Chassis proudly sells shocks from Afco, Strange, and Viking and has the GUARANTEED best prices on all of them, along with the street and track experience to back it all up.

Might consider also carrying Santuffs. Best money I ever spent.

And I will never argue that fact, but so are the JRI, and Penske that I run on my Top Sportsman car. The simple fact of the matter is most of this market will not spend that type of coin, and the 3 brands I do sell are getting it done. For the power most of the f-body crowd makes and the type of racing 98% of them do the Afco, Strange, and now Viking brands are great for the application. You go to a NHRA pro race and chances are you won't see much of Afco, Strange, and Viking, but you do see the JRI, Penske, and Santhuff. Go to a f-body event and it's the opposite.

NHRA events are where I race. I run a Super Stock car. AFCO, Santuff & Strange are about all you see there. My long time Friend Mike Edwards, and most other Pro Stock cars use Penske. Comp cars use all I mentioned. I don't watch the others, so don't know what they use.

food for thought, if you have never taking your strut mounts off before just order some new ones. Car is a Texas car and both bolts are rusted so bad i cant even see them.

i just installed the springs/shocks, man i don't like the 1' drop in the front. I have tried to tighten them until they stop but can't get them back to stock ride. I will have to play with them a little more but just giving you my opinion so far.

1" drop? They are adjustable to whatever height you want. Did you install the bearings correctly and use anti seize on the threads?

That's exactly what I said in my thread. I was giving advice to buy new before so nobody would run into issues it sucks to have rusted parts like that

I've got the AFCO's and they work great hooking on the street. At the track they are chained down all the way, so they only work for the landing. LOL

Looks like he might need a longer or heavier spring.
