I did the smart thing and bought all new pieces, nothing old went into the shock/spring assembly.

Smart, the first time i did the job with the old eibachs i saved money using old parts and ended up having to take it all apart again to replace it.

I got my self some rears. Have single strange up front. Looking at a good starting point for the rear. Also how would I go by adjusting them, like if it spins too much or doesn't transfer weight good. Thank will be testing today so if I can get some good inputs I will be able to apply them on the car.

if it spins to much that means you don't have enough rebound, so if i were you i would go hard on the rebound.

All the racers I know just call it extension and compression anyway. A little more like race car function. Not a lot of rebounding in a drag car. :-)

It initially hooks but loses traction right away

Rebound = extension. If that is what the instruction actually say for the front, whoever wrote that is smoking crack. That is *** backwards for drag racing. You want compression very stiff. You want it to come up very easy unless you have a very hard hooking car with a lot of gear, a ton of torque and a hard hitting converter. Or a stick car leaving over 6000. If your not having trouble keeping it off the bumper you want the front end to come up very easy. Ain't going to happen set on 12. You want it to settle back down slowly so it won't tend to in-hook after it initially hooks. Setting compression on 4 won't help that situation. That is also ***-backwards. I hope the shocks are better than the instructions.
I would set rebound/extension to zero when I get to the track, compression to maybe 6 from full tight. If it wheel stands too high (I'm betting it won't) tighten rebound/extension 6 clicks at time until it settles down.

Sorry I meant the instructions are for the rear shock, I finally got my car to dead hook I have the Viking rear shocks at 4comp 11 re, front strange shocks @ 4 since they are singles adj. Started the night with a 1.8 60ft got it down to a 1.50 dead hooking. Best pass so far on a very humid day 10.6 @125.

Great to see you are making progress with the Viking shocks. If anyone of you using Viking, Strange, or the Afco shocks I sell, I have a great amount of experience with all of them and can help you get pointed in the right direction. Feel free to call or email me and I can give you the correct info.

I got my front kit on, nice quality and everything but somethings not right, put them on and road down the road twice, second time I got on it and it juss blew the tires off on a stock hp car! Took the wheels off and the spring was rubbing the shock! The spring is cocked sideways juss a bit enough to rub! I have the piece centering the spring up against the oem rubber isolator, its like I scooted over on it? What did I do wrong?

if your spring is touching the shock, you did not center the black bezel on the silver spacer that came with the kit.

the silver bezel sits on top of the spring not the rubber strut mount, it goes; silver bezel, black ring from shock on top of it tighten up the spring to take the slack out of it , strut mount and insulator mount. I wish i had a picture to show you but i dont.
