Default Rear end gear inputs

Guy I was running a 6spd with 28" tall tire and 4.56 gear.... Swapping over to a turbo 400 and wondering if I may need to re gear the car....

All Im really concerned about is running the best 1/8 mile time I can get, I do occasionally street drive the car....

Car basic details...

370 with F1 Blower, makes roughly 800whp

Thanks alot for inputs

I'd leave the 4.56's in it.
And see what it does.

I was kind of thinking it would be to much and lock the converter up way to soon....

you already have it... run it and see... that 4.56 and 1st gear in the tranny would be my concern... i hope you have a way to control boost and or timing.

I mean technically you shouldn't trap over 125 in the 1/8th, so you should be ok with 4.56's by the numbers, but when it comes down to it, I think it would be next to impossible to actually plant the tire in 1st gear with that much gear. I think in actuality, the car would probably be faster with a 3.25-3.50 gear.

Yeah, I'm alittle lost on that one.

The converter is always slipping, it is part of how it actually functions, but I think you mean where the converter is past it's stall point and doesn't slip as much.

I think if you had the 4.56's with the 6 speed
you might be o.k. With the TH-400.
The stock 1st gear in a TH-400 is 2.48.
I really don't know about a blower car.
But N/A it would be badass in the 1/8 mile.

Add in the torque multiplication w/ the 400 converter, that's not there w/ the 6 speed, and it could well be "tire fryer" time.....
