Default -16 AN remote thermostat

Anyone seen a remote housing for a -16AN line? I have 2 -16 coming from my radiator to my meziere race pump, and am not running a thermostat. Thnking its flowing to much water and doesnt have time to let the hot water cool. It would need to be -16 male one side -116 female the other side to be a perfect fit for the car.

why -16? -12 is good, and use a restrictor if you're concerned.

I never got above 160 but if its a street car it could be an issue

My coolant lines from the pump to the radiator are -16. Thats why i wanted it to be the size. what style restrictor?

Is this a street car or a drag only car?

-16 is way too small for a street car with any kind of HP.

A thermostat will not help your engine run cooler. Slowing the water down will not help your engine run cooler. Internet myth.

Sorry I don't know anyone that makes -16 thermostat housing.

If your engine is running hot use a vacuum assisted radiator filling tool to make sure you have all the air out of the system. Make sure you are using a recovery style radiator cap and catch can. I would also increase the lower hose size back the stock size for the engine 1.75" or 1.50". As always have a well built rad with a fan shroud that covers the complete core of the radiator.

just sharing my experience here, I have a tiny radiator in my car, runs 215-220 in the summer so I tried running no thermostat, pulled it out & started the car it immediately got up to 215 idling in the garage. Stuck the 180 back in. It idles at 185-190

sees 80 passes a year and around 3-5K street miles. Im running a afco sciricco radiator with there shroud and fan. It stays in the 200 range normally, but idling can get 220+. its a tiny radiator and i didnt know if i should just upgrade to a much larger radiator or if the flow was a issue. the pump is a meziere race pump.

I am pretty sure moroso makes a remote thermostat housing you can use AN fittings. I run -16 lines to my radiator from a Miezere elec street pump and it never gets over 200. I am on E85 though so that helps I think. Straight water with Weter Water.

That's the same radiator I have. I'm running the stock pump with a 180 stat. Your temps sound pretty similar to mine. I would do a bigger radiator before I would change your lines or pump.

Thats what i was thinking. Im positive that the pump is fine, it has the cooling ability to get my car back to normal when the radiator is the stock one. Ive had this same pump for 5 years. Just know with the smaller radiator and higher compression it heats up fast and stays up there.

Easy way to test if its moving to much is to put a ball valve in line. we use one on the race car and if we see a spike or drop in temp we can adjust it for the next run.

Yeah my situation is a little different, its a truck with a fairly large Ron Davis dual pass radiator and lots of front airflow. Like suggested may need a larger radiator or better airflow to it.

Bigger radiator will help along with larger lines. The flow rating on these pumps are done with 1 3/4" inlet hose if you run anything less your choking it and your not getting all the flow that the pump can give you.

For your temp to rise that fast it more then likley had air trapped in the system.

Looks like quality parts, but a -16 hose is still to small for a street car, just because one or two guys are getting away with it doesn't mean the next guy will.

Katech makes a nice restrictor that fits in a stock style housing.
