Default Driveshaft too long - options?

The shop asked for "bottomed out length" and said they would subtract for slip. I have emails back and forth where they keep asking specifically "This measurement is yoke bottomed out correct" "Yes bottomed out" etc. etc. Even on the phone they said "give me bottomed out length, because most other driveshaft places will subtract too much for slip, these cars only like XXX for slip and we'll take care of that". I waited from the summer until now to get the driveshaft, and had to call and email and phone many times to follow up on it's status.

Well needless to say I got my new shaft in (finally) and it was made exactly to the bottomed out length with nothing subtracted for slip.

Is there a simple way to fix this or does it mean a scrap shaft and new one has to be made?

Ahh the joys of modding I know it'll all work out, just trying to avoid sending it back etc. if I can rig it up somehow locally.

It's TH400 to Moser 12 bolt 1350 yokes.

Anyone have out-of-the-box ideas? Besides moving engine forward, rear backwards..

Thanks!

Shortening a drive shaft is no big deal. Any driveshaft company should be able to do it.

First course of action... Send it back and demand the problem fixed. Make sure to get extreeeeeemely bitchy if need be.
Second course of action would be to have it professionally shortened. It is usually less than $100 and the turn around time can sometimes be 1 day.

That won't make a difference. You need to send it back and have it fixed.

Just for reference, always give drive shaft measurements as to exactly what you want U to U. Don't leave it up to their interpretation.

Normally I put in the slip yoke, pull it out 1/2" - 3/4" and measure center to center on the ujoints. They insisted on bottomed out length and even after I gave the dimesion they replied back in the email "that is bottomed out right?" "Yes bottomed out".

I bet if I had given them my actual length, they would have subtracted for slip and it would be still wrong - murphy's law and all that you know

Cool!
That's what they should do.
