Default Drag racing in cold weather?

I was considering going to the track one time before it closes in michigan.
Its ranging 40-50. My car has ~550rwhp N/A on nitto 275s.

It moves REALLY fast in the cold but traction is obviously an issue.

When the weather is cold, are you guys able to get good traction at the strip after a good burnout and all that or is it useless to even try going?

Lol i'm in Michigan as well, and have about 550 rwhp on 275 Nitto's as well. I thought about making a pass before the season ends, but I can't even hook from a 2nd gear roll let alone a dig. Hell she broke loose a little bit the other day from a 3rd gear roll lol

If the track sprays VHT all the way down you should be ok. We have run in colder weather on a slick and have run our best times. Low 10's and high 9's with my sons car. If they do not spray the track, forget about trying to go down it.

About 100 less HP... 275 MT DR's....dead hooking in mid 50* temps.
A buddy in his BB Nova went his best of 8.47 @ 147? on 295 MT DR's all twisted up on launch.

You need more/better tire for what you are wanting to do.

+1.

Nitto isn't cutting it. You need a real DR.

I've raced at Norwalk in 28 degree temps and it all depends how they prep the track. The cooler air will definitely make more power, you just need to get it to the ground. Dave

I don't really like it... Especially when dew starts to appear on the car in humid climate here in Texas. The starting line is fine but up top makes me nervous but I've also kissed the wall before.

Dew temperature makes a huge difference in colder weather.... even VHT wont help when you hit the dew temp and water starts to form.... or something like this..
