Default Track rule on hoods?

Is there a rule that says you can't run down the track without a hood? Or does that just depend on the track or the event your running at? I'm guessing if you have a filter of some sort over your TB/Carb it shouldn't be a big deal...right? Let me know if any of you know or have this experience before I try and do it LOL Going to be racing mostly in Maryland btw...

Depends entirely on the track rules. Most tracks require a hood.

Check the nhra rule book . I've run with out a hood but had to tape up the back of the air filter ( carbed 83 Z ) so the air flow wouldn't suck the fuel out of the carb

I don't know if you can make it out , but the tape on the back of the air filter with out a hood is NHRA legal

I have an outdated 08' NHRA rulebook that I got just so I could get legal specs for my rollcage but it doesn't say anything about hoods, only hood scoops and their legal heights.

With out a hood you need an air filter with a closed back . Using tape to close it is acceptable . Went over this with track officials at Lebanon valley when my hood flew off on my first TT pass
