Default front skinnies

Has anyone used these tires for up front skinnies 165/80-15 NEXEN SB-802 RADIAL TIRE? I have run my M/T front skinnies on the road back and forth to the track when I race and it really shortens their life span. I know they are not designed for that, but any way, the M/T are about $150. The other I can get for about $70.

What do you think?

Nope. You think $80 less for tires is worth ruining the long list of **** in your sig when your cheap tires pop and you hit a wall?

Hit or miss and vehicle weight and road condition make a diff too, some guys run those dirt cheap skinnies full time for thousands of miles and others hit 1 pothole and shred them

It goes down to weight preference. The real front skinnys are considerably lighter as opposed to the "volkswagon" tires.

Those Nexens are 'T' speed rated, 118 mph. With the speeds some of you guys are running, personally I'd error on the side of safety.

Been running the Nankang 185 for years, but only to the track, race, and back which is a 20 minute drive for me. I take it easy on corners and avoid potholes. They are only rated for 118 but you only see that speed or above for what like a 2 seconds?

Just put on some cheap H rated tires from Wallyworld before my last outing. $65 each....why take a chance...even 2 seconds can be the turning point.

Running 10's....how far do you travel in 2 seconds ? Think about it.

I got m&h 17x4.5 bias fronts only cause they were on there when I traded for them. I only drive once every few weeks but Hoosier radials will go on next. Full drag front runner makes me nervous on our rough highways.

Don't be a cheap piece of **** and risk totaling your car or the poor ******* next to your cheap *** going down the track. Put the right tire on. I've personally seen a cheap front runner come apart on the track and wipe out the car in the lane next to him. A lot can happen at 100+ mph.

I had a VW skinny blow out 11 years ago just driving. But I had pulled a lot of wheelies:

Luckily VSI was not far, was able to get DS2's mounted and raced 2 hours later:

But the DS2's and non-treaded stuff don't 'track' as well on the highway.

I ran DOT sportmans on other cars after that.

I run the 165/80-15 Nexen front tires on my car without any problems. I worry more about cutting 1 of my rear Hoosier D/R on the street than I do the front tires. The rears have a way thinner sidewall and tread thickness than the fronts do. I use to run a Michelin 165R15 for years on my old Nova without a single problem.
