yes....
especially if you are using extra systems that only come on at WOT.

OK I understand that, what about coil packs?

yes... amperage goes up with RPM(assuming dwell time remains fairly consistent)

fires more times per second which takes more voltage and amperage to make it happen.

sounds obvious that it would but I didn't know if there was any kind of constant load variable speed technology involved.

Good advice with the ground and alternator wire sizes here recommended. I am a big proponent of a good ground the size of your power wire to the engine from the battery. And battery to frame. One thing I didn't see here is what size is the wire to the starter? Believe it or not your starter can pull upwards of a 300 amp load while starting and if you're wire size is not adequate for that amperage it will strain the battery, which will throw off the electronics and your computer, thinking there's not enough voltage. Learned this the hard way.

Alternator has a 4 gauge going back to the battery.

Never/ever a starting or charging issue. All ends are crimped correctly.
Pretty much how I do mine except I went with 2/O welding cable since it was free...never an issue

All wires are 1GA except from the alt. which is 6GA. Im still waiting on my bellhousing so no progress. Plus its been a high of 15 here for the last week so I have had no desire to go work on the car on concrete, but has made great weather to with friends.

I had a grounding problem in the 89 awhile back. Since the distance is too far for most multimeters to do a voltage drop test, the easiest way to diagnose is to put a multimeter on it and put a set of jumper cables on the car. I just put all terminals on grounds in different locations and I gained a good bit of voltage. After that I didnt have issues anymore.
