Default Tire and 10 bolt ?

I may possibly have a set of M/T Sportsman tires(?) to use on saturday. What would you guys launch at to keep my stock 10 bolt safe? I was thinking ~2500-3000? Another problem is thatim still running my stock clutch. Thanks.

2500 rpms would be a good starting point.

With nittos, stock clutch and gears I launched at 5k and nothing broke. The clutch just slipped. Then the pedal would stick to the floor making it hard to shift into third.

Anyway, its unlikely you will break anything with the stock clutch. Especially since its pre 2001 and not the z06 clutch. When you run make sure to not to have any back lash in the gears when you launch. Launchin around 2.5-3k rpms should get you a decent 60ft time without burning up the clutch too much.

When I launched at 3k I got a 1.96 60ft time. This was with a stock camaro with only a cutout and nittos weighin at 3600lbs. I hope this helps.

Good luck

Thanks man, my car will be ~3550 with me in it. I hope my clutch doesnt go on me. It doesnt slip at all, but the pedal sticks to the floor occasionally.

i don't know about that theory of not breaking anything on a stock clutch.

i broke a 10 bolt twice with a stock clutch and on 16" nittos, only 2.0 sixties even.

destroyed the ring gear once and then took out the spider gear on an Auburn posi..i never launched the car over about 2000 rpm either, 10 bolts suck

Damn It seems like some 10 bolts are just better than others. Mine has 68000 miles. I hope I dont break the P.O.S.

I dunno. I must have good luck. The 10bolt has 80k miles and is starting to whine. Other than that its ok. I have to admit I baby it though. On the street I only accelerate hard on smooth surfaces. Plus, I grannyshift most of the time unless at the track. I try and drive as smooth as possible and it seems to be working so far. This is on regular radials so take it for what its worth. Had nittos for awhile and wheelhop became a problem and sold them.

I tried launching at 2500 and 3000 and didnt care for the results but 3500 was an improvement. I have stock clutch, rear and nittos. I only launched at 3500 once though and am kinda scared.
