Yes he did go 9.9's with some weight out. This weekend he is in full A/FIA trim and running 10.30's. That is awsome!

He did it also as a A/FIA last year with same base weight (~2950 with driver if memory serves correct). In some interviews that I read, he stated that he went for the record with a few tweaks that you might not see week-to-week, without being specific. I would guess some changes, besides in the cal, would be gearing and converter, where as you might not want to push spinning on the line for a non-record run. As long as he has his class covered, which he did this weekend, why risk it since he is never in trouble for qualifying well enough under his index. Take care.

FAR from untouched. What the NHRA calls "stock" is almost laughable.

It still hauls azz for the 346...

yea like John Brown said, the stock eliminator class is FAR from stock. they have stock lift cams and stock port volumes, but otherwise are full out race machines. truly amazing and they never open their lips about their setups.

actually bristol is a damn fast track even though it is in the mountains. it is in the valley of the mountains right there and COVERED in trees with the oxygen falling into the valleys, the air quality isnt as bad as one might think.

Put down the crack pipe and BACK AWAY!!!!!

Last time I was @ Bristol (Bash 2000), stock LS1's were running high 14's and heads/cam cars were running low 13's-high 12's. Bristol is most certainly NOT fast by any sense of the word

I run .2 (two tenths) faster in the 1/8 at a track about an hour from Bristol. Everyone I know runs a lot slower there. BTW my stock engined full weight LS1 ran 12.50's there

Bristol Dragway’s elevation is 1,475

I went 12.07 @ 109.74 (1.60) there, stock internals on 17's, at Year One's Bristol Bash

Takes decent air to make up for that elevation

Take one $30-35K T/A, and spend another $40-50K and you have a competitive FI stocker. Al Corda has plenty in that combo, he just doesn't want to go for the record b/c of the teardown required (mentioned that in a National Dragster story when he first ripped the 9's in January).
Still 10.30s at Bristol is hauling the mail......
