what trans for drag race setup only??
ok I don't drive it on the street, I was thinking of a powerglide, but I was told that the 2 speed is not good for these cars, a th400 would be better..
what trans/ converter (stall) combo would fit my car best??
4l60 with 3600 yank, strange S60 with 3.73, 28 tall M/T..
my cam calls for a 4000 converter, would that do better?

It's not that "these cars don't like a powerglide". There are plenty of really fast powerglide 4th gens. Look around in the fastest FI list.
That being said, I really like the TH400 for a drag race setup. Has a really good first gear, parts are readily available for it, they are easy to work on yourself, and once they are built a little bit, can handle just about anything you throw at it.

I had the same question afew years ago.
If you got a super fast car and light weight a glide would
Be better, glides are harder to get the right converter. They have a taller
1st gear, nitrous cars seem to like them.
For a low 10 second car a TH-400 is fine.

PTC or Rossler would be my choices.
Call both and talk to them about your set up and they will get you straight on a converter also. PTC is one of the top converter people in the business. Rossler doesn't do converters but can suggest who they like.

Th400 gets my vote, I ran a 350 and loved it until it grenaded itself a few weeks ago. I am now converting over to a 400, you can't beat them for the money. I have a pretty similar setup to yours.
