It was in GMHTP several months ago. The formula for finding out horsepower from your weit and 1/4-mile time, or something like that. I need it for physics today. Thanks!

you can do it off e.t., but a more reliable measurement is on mph. E.t. hp figures can be off the mark more.
-The formula doing it by mph is (mph/234)to the 3rd power. multiply that number by the weight of the car and you'll get the hp figure at the rear wheels.
my car as an example: 3450 race weight, best mph 107.13 NA from my 70 Nova. So the (107.13/234) is .4578205. Multiply that to the 3rd power and then you get 0.0959589. Multiply that by the weight and you get 331.0582 hp.
So about 380-390 hp at the flywheel considering an average 15% loss through an automatic trans.
Oh by the way, doing it by e.t. the formula is
-weight divided by ((et/5.825)to the 3rd power)
Using my best pass on this (12.36) gives an answer of 361.12 hp.
