Results from Yank 4L70 Conversion and 12bolt!
Headed out to Cayuga today for a TNT session with the new car. One of the guys had rented the track trying for 7's in his Camaro and he and I were the only ones there. There was a moderate headwind (20mph) but the weather was otherwise good. (60 degrees, 4x% humidty and decent baro.)
Unfortunately the track was not hooking at all for us even with liberal amounts of glue. My first pass I burned out hard, stalled the car to 2K and mashed it off the line. The car lifted, spun, turned to the left and I had to lift off the gas entirely and point the car in the right direction.

12.35@115mph with a 1.98 sixty LOL
Well I decided to try again and came out really soft (1/3rd throttle in most of first). With a 1.89 sixty I ran a 12.11@115 again but I bounced off the rev limiter in first gear 3 times and second once. (Tach is slow)
I decided to make one more pass before calling it quits. Did a decent burnout and went to stage. Rolled off idle into the throttle and gave it about half throttle in all of first gear, short shifted at around 6200 and managed to hook. Floored it from second on and got the following
sixty: 1.67
330: 4.8
1/8th: 7.5
1/8th mph: 93
1000: 9.812
1/4: 11.70
mph 116.5

Needless to say I was VERY happy considering I only gave the car half throttle in first and BABIED it off the line. The car DEFINITELY has 11.40's@118mph in it as it sits right now with hook. I LOVE driving the automatic, it is so nice compared to the six speed and is it ever violent with the 4.11's, spool and 4600 converter off the line.
Anyways, I have a good baseline now and with a few more mods and tricks will have 11.20's in the spring god willing.
Cheers,
Chris
ps- previous best with the cats on the car and six speed tranny was 12.62@116mph (Ran 12.48@118mph with the offroad Ypipe in better weather) So I basically dropped a whole second in the 1/4 mile with only giving the car 1/3rd throttle in first
Going to be interesting with the new slicks and 1.5x sixtys in the spring

Going to go with an Airbag, subframes and also new slicks on new centerline convo pros. (These ones have been dead for over a year) I am telling you Terry it was scary the first time I launched this thing and it lost traction LOL. The guy at the timing lights said on my 11.7 run the car pulled the front wheels even though he could hear me roll into the throttle and not mash it till second gear.
Glad to hear the tranny is working well. Keep the gears, get better rubber
Just imagine if I can get this to the 11.20-11.30 range in the spring and then throw on a 150-200 shot Do you think I could hook with a 26x8.5x15 inch ET Drag on the Convo 26x8x15 inch rims NA? I want to stay as narrow a tire as possible while still hooking to save on weight at rolling resistance. Anyone know how big a difference the Hoosier Daddy 26x8.5x15 inch tires hook?
Thanks
Chris
Congrats on the huge drop in ET. It's been a long time coming.

I was thrilled considering I havent raced an A4 car in about 6 years and that I have so much in the sixty left to get.
Can't wait till the spring
