Default 275 Drag Radial Build Question

Hey guys, I do not know if the question has been asked or not, but I have been reading up on drag radial 275 class and the requirements. I have a general understanding of what the class limits are but this is geared towards my personal vehicle. I have a 97 Trans Am WS6 with some specs in my sig. When I go all out for this build I will add some hp of course but as far as suspension and chassis work, what all should be done on this F body car? I just want a rough idea on what needs to be done. Know any specific people you could point me to? I am just trying to clear up my understanding of what should be done. I would appreciate it.

Ha I know I would, but wanting to know what someone has done with an F body car. Just trying to work my way up slowly to get to that point. Any links or name referrals would be a start.

There's a whole lot to it, but you need to build from a solid drivetrain and suspension base right from the start.

Most competitive X275 cars are in the 4.40-4.60 range, so you need to get good parts right from the start or the project will end up costing you much more than it should.

We have done a ton of 275 and 315 radial chassis builds and setup for customers across the country, and MWC suspension parts and rearends are on the record setting stock style suspension f-body cars.

Give us a call and we will be more than happy to go over your build project and assist you with any parts you need!

Running E-85 with that S480 and 10.5:1 CR? That could have very high octane requirements!

Well I met some guys at Fall Brawl in Holly Springs MS in the X275 class this past weekend and a couple of those guys ran E85 off of 376LSX with 12:5 compression with a Garrett 88mm. One guy even changed his fuel to straight methonal which is what I was considering once I did my next engine build strictly for that class. Thanks for the replies guys. I know it was a general type question but was just wondering how people were doing their 275 FBody builds!

If you want to stay LSx I would do a 88mm. IMO the best option would be SBNOS.

The Procharger and straight methanol will be a very easy to build combo and make crazy power. Cubes will depend on other engine parts but normally 390-418 has proven to work well.

when did methanol become legal in X ??? unless 2015 brings something different

Gasoline only is permitted. Alcohol/E85 permitted on roots blown/V6/Inline-6/4cyl applications. Alcohol or E-85 or other derivatives is prohibited on all other combinations. Meth injection prohibited. Water injection permitted on SB NOS combos only.

I would suggest a stroll thru the X 275 forum on yellow bullet ...

Well this weekend I saw 1 guy run E85 and 1 guy run alcohol. Maybe it was illegal but I saw for sure. I kinda thought in the back of my mind it might have been illegal too from what I read.....

Hey man would love to me ya. Im constantly at Gateway. But I have a guy thats pretty good at fabrication so that will be easy. I am thinking LSX 427ci with an 88mm. And I have a couple that are not really that dedicated so that might be the struggle for me. But hey thats where all the fun is!

Well sounds like a plan. Just research and try to spend money on the good parts first otherwise it will get twice as expensive.

ssvert99 could you pm a price on a complete tube chassis build that would be a 275 certified? I would appreciate it. Seems like I will be spending a lot of money with you soon.

here... check this out. This build is not necessarily the "standard" but it does tale a good chassis and lot of power to be competitive. This is a car we just finished up building...
