Default Street tire psi

I tried looking this up, but came back empty handed. My goal should, for the most part, be simple. I want to get my car into the 12's. With 385whp I shouldn't have a problem doing it, or atleast you would think so. I went to Fontana Dragway and ran a best of 13.3 @ 110 mph (DA 2000). My main factor being my 60'. I first ran at 36 psi, but settled down to 30 psi, and brought my 60' down from 2.4 sec. to 2.2. How low should I go in tire pressure?

Please let me know.

if the "street tire" is a drag radial by chance then anywhere from 13-18 psi depending on brand/height.

If its a regular street tire usually in the 25 to 28 psi range much lower will be counter productive. Best way to tell is to punch it and see what the patch you lay looks like , when you drop the pressure too far in a regular street tire you will see 2 distinct lines at the outer edges of the footprint and not much of a black mark in between , too much pressure will be darker in the middle and a narrower patch you want consistent black mark across the entire footprint of the tire

I'm using Mickey Thompson Street Comp (not drag radials or slicks).

Oh, and thanks on the information. I'm gonna try 28 psi,and go from there.

It's going to depend on the wheel width, tire size, rear weight of the car, and a ton of other things. Anywhere from 15-30psi.

If ya ask me you are wasting your time running street tires, especially if your putting anywhere near 380hp to the pavement. Messing with tire pressure on street tires really is not going to do much for ya. Get a set of drag radials , run them around 18psi and let her rip.
At that power level your 60's will always be lame on street tires

I've put over 800 rwhp to the tires on pep boys futuras, and been deep in the 9's on them.

But.... It's a pain in the *** and damn sure ain't easy

I'm go say your tire size got a lot to do with the amount of psi works best. I'm pretty sure a 17 inch tire is totally different from a 15 inch tire with more sidewall.

13psi? Don't you risk spinning the rim with the psi that low?
