James...I've done a bit of class racing, and know a few legal 'tricks'. If you're interested, drop me a line via e-mail or PM.

Re: NFRA 2002
Trust me in this: Its easier to add then to take away! I weigh in at 275lbs and dropping(gotta lose weight for racing season!) I know some tricks that have been employed before to gain weight on cars. How about a Coke can with lead in it? A famous guy by the name of Smokey used that one. I have heard of certain guys putting wieght in a helmet that they put in the car before it goes across the scales.
Why am I telling you this in the open? Becuase I don't want someone to try and use one of these tactics becuase I'm 99% sure they would get caught and it would be quite embarassing!

Re: NFRA 2002
LOL. Well, I raced all last year with a spare tire full of lead shot and sand. I had to lift the sucker in and take it back out for every race, and the damed thing weighed 150 lbs! LOL. But it was properly secured, and thus legal.
There are other, better, and safe ways. I'll be utilizing them this year.

On to my ?. Anyone know how to add weight to a car? Shipping weight was 3380 on my stripper Z. With me at a 130lbs. wet, raceweight comes in at 3510lbs. Thats with FULL interior, jack & spare in place, etc., stock off the showroom floor. I understand that I am a lightweight and if I weighed 200lbs. then I would be well into the weight class I need. So I need to know how to LEGALLY add weight to my car.
By the way, with the front sway bar removed, back seats out, jack and spare removed, rear divider out, intermediate pipe and muffler off my raceweight is 3340lbs. Besides the exhaust that's going back on, I would still need to add some weight to fit into the 3400lbs. class. So I still need to know how to LEGALLY add weight.

Let JS drive it. That should do it for ya

Re: NFRA 2002
If you need only 40lbs, just add ~6 more gallons of gasoline than you'd normally run. Or do you run with a full tank already?
BTW- If you are going to run 11.99 or quicker, you'll need a rollbar, which will put you up to weight no prob. AT least on NHRA tracks.

LOL.
I usually race with a 1/4 tank so I could add some gas. I've run 12.09 @ 3340lbs. raceweight on ET's. Once I add everything back in to the car and slap on DR's I doubt that I will be able to run a sub-12 sec. pass. I hate to say it but for the S/S rules I think a M6 is going to be hard pressed to get close to a 12.0 this year. Not saying that it can't happen though.
