Default NFRA 2002

Just a brief update regarding NFRA for 2002. We are still working on nailing down the date and location, and expect to have this finalized by the end of next week. We are attempting to hold a two-day event this time.

In the meantime, I want to wet your beaks by giving you a sneak preview of things to come. As you will see, things are changing drastically for 2002. The proposed classes are as follows:

1. Brackets
2. Street Stock: N/A, Drag radials, 3550#
3. Modified Street: N/A, DOT, 3400#
4. Street Eliminator: Power adder, DOT, 3400#
5. Wild Street: 10.5 3200#, nearly anything goes
6. A Surprise!

Stay tuned...

What about clases for stock cubed cars?
Don't they kinda get shafted by the big cubed cars??
Or are they the ones most likely to run in the Braket Class?
Just curious, thanks!

Hmmm.... that would be a tough choice for me! I love racing on DR's, and I already weigh close to that 3550# figure.

11.38 on DR's, or 11.13 on ET Streets.... hmmm....

That one's pretty tempting for me too. Last time I was at that weight on drag radials I ran 10.7.

Okay, I'll run in whatever class Colonel isn't running in. That way I don't get taken down by him like at the last event.

Besides Stephen, it could take you months to add all those parts back to the car, it would be easier to swap the powertrain/drivetrain from your Z into the SS

LOL!

Yep I gotta agree Tony.
Those 2 classes look tempting..

Can I run them both?
If not I guess I'll run the DR class as I know I'll have good chance to go a couple rounds...

This is gonna be fun....

FYI guys. I think they mean by street stock as just that. stock heads/cam/long block. HMMMM..may have to bring the wife with her car this time. All those stripped stock cars would have to load everything back on it..heheheh. Since she has the lighweight driver mod going for her she will prolly come in right at weight.

From what I see I would either have to put my et streets back on or run with the wild street class. For some reason I just don't think I can keep up with judson or colonel.

Here's a vote for HRP.

Can I get into a class without NineBall, Colonel, PSJ, and Raughammer? LOL.

Chris, I'll bet that HRP would LOVE to host this event. They put Super Chevy back on their schedule after being absent from HRP for several years. They are looking for new events to help offset the loss of revenue from losing one of their NHRA events.

First, I drove my car 35,000 miles since I bought it in February of 2001. So it is definately a street car.

On to my ?. Anyone know how to add weight to a car? Shipping weight was 3380 on my stripper Z. With me at a 130lbs. wet, raceweight comes in at 3510lbs. Thats with FULL interior, jack & spare in place, etc., stock off the showroom floor. I understand that I am a lightweight and if I weighed 200lbs. then I would be well into the weight class I need. So I need to know how to LEGALLY add weight to my car.

By the way, with the front sway bar removed, back seats out, jack and spare removed, rear divider out, intermediate pipe and muffler off my raceweight is 3340lbs. Besides the exhaust that's going back on, I would still need to add some weight to fit into the 3400lbs. class. So I still need to know how to LEGALLY add weight.

I was thinking about you James, when I read the rules. IMO The minimum wheight should reflect the lightest car allowed to compete, plus 170 lb's for driver wheight. Some cars are just lighter than the minimum wheight. Perhaps break it down into min wheight per generation?

You understand John. I'm not trying to suggest that the class be tailored to my likings or anything. I am on the light side as far as guys go, but I just can't help that I'm 5'6", 130lbs. I'm just a trying to figure out how to add weight to my car so that if my car went back to stock for this class I will have the raceweight. I won't have enough mod's to really compete in the next class up. I'm sure there is someone with a heavyweight saying there is no way to drop down to 3550lbs. and they will be limited by what they can and can't take off the car. But I will have to attach ballast to the frame. Is there a way to do this without welding or drilling holes? Do sfc's weigh 40lbs. cause I still need them?
