Default Quickest you can run on a stock rear and gears before it breaks?

I ran a 13.0@110 in 75 degree weather on GSC's with a 2.2 sec 60' time. I'm probably going to get BFG drag radials, and headers this summer, and hope to be in the low/mid 12's if I can hook. Next year I plan on doing some heads/cam and I wonder if the stock rear can take this amount of power.

*Edited brakes to breaks*

I think you should be okay as long as you don't push your luck and abuse it too much. I ran 275/50/16 BFG's for about two months and loved them.

With a 6 speed, I would start putting money to the side for a 12 bolt just in case something happens.

I've ran 12.09@113.9 with a 1.75 60' on the stock 3.42's on ET Streets launching at 5700 rpm. It's not will it last, it's how long will it last. Harlan went 11.2 on the stock rear end. But when he swapped in a 12-bolt and we took the 10-bolt apart the diff had a hairline crack all the way through it and some of the worm gears were chewed up. It wouldn't have lasted another track session.

6-speeds send so much shock to the rear off of a hard launch...

i am about to mount my ET Streets on my stock rear and i have a MN6 with stock gear. with the SPEC clutch (stage III) you think it would actually hold up for a few outings even at 4000K rpm launches? wow, you guys give me some confidence as i purchase my new rear!

I've run 11.5's on my stock rear end, 2.73 gears, converter, and street tires. so far everything has held up pretty well

You can't predict, or call on something like this. Everyone has different amounts of luck. I have seen a 6-speed car run 10.32/129 mph with a stock 10 bolt, and ET slicks. I have also seen a bone stock car snap the rear to peices on street tires. As I said, you can't call it.

If you plan on racing your car, especially on sticky tires, you just have to decide wether you want to try your luck and possibly be stranded at the track/on the road one day. Or do you want the extra strength, insurance, and knowing that you can drive to the track and be able to drive back home the same night.

I just counted all my runs, & have 74 runs from this past year, on the stock tranny & rear with 3:73 gears. 34 of those are since I put the 3:73's in. Best time in the sig. I see many have run 10's with the stock rear, so maybe I will stick with what I have & upgrade the tranny first.
