Yeah, I think it's fun rolling in an out running trailered race cars with my STOCK motor! , then driving home.

Even funny is watching a friends heads/cam/nitrous car run faster than many super pro cars!

I've doen the "buy old car and make race car" thing. I had expensive paper weight, that was only good for one thing, and mostly useless.

This is the way I see it. Picture this, you are at the track you are in a 4th gen f body, in the lane next to you is another 4th gen f body. He busts your *** with a 9.90, to your 10.90. Whos car is everyone going to want to check out, whos car is gonna be more impressive. The 9.90 car of coarse. And off on the side lines standing by your self you are saying but, but Ive got my back seats guys, and the jacks in the trunk still!

Some people feel that AC or PS isnt necessary on a street car. As for the motor question, you can get a solid cammed motor (whether it is 346ci or 432ci) to idle well and have reasonable street manners. It is all up to personal preference. Some say my car is extreme with a manual valvebody tranny, 4400 stall converter, 4.11 gears with Spool, no AC etc.
But my car passes emissions, has full interior and runs low-mid 11's all day long.
It is all subjective.

Cheers,
Chris

LOL!! I still think people are going to be more impressed with the 10.90 street car than a 9.90 race car

I've done both. Ran 10.7 NA through the full exhaust with AC, full interior, big stereo system, ON RADIAL TIRES....a bonified street car.

Did the car get more attention then, or now without all of those things but running NA 9s. Ain't no question about it, not even close...The crowd loves seeing the late model LS1 running the NA 9s more.

What did I like more? My 'ole street car running 10s. So, I do agree with you there. I'll have to run 8s before it gets to be as fun as that again!

Its all about what you like.I would rather see a newer car run than some bathtub on wheels.I dont think it takes as much to make an old car fast as a new one.Everyone wants a kickass looking car that can stop the clock in 12sec and under drive it home and then go pick up some honey later on.No one wants some primered beater that gets pulled off the trailer once a month to run.

its all what you can live with and also take into consideration how much you are gonna drive it and who you are gonna drive around in the car with you. Maybe your wife would hate to climb over a rollbar or sit on aluminum seats or the tranny to shift and give her whiplash or the sound of open headers, etc, etc. But to you it may be "streetable"

spend your money on what you want. More people own LS1s that don't have a thing done to them and will never see a race track than are on here. So most don't care...they are the ones that think we are crazy
