Nick,

Sitting at a Chevrolet dealer are "Gen-3" LS heads. Our "Gen-3's" flow 420cfm with a 218 intake, and we have had a "LS-Super Spyder" manifold for 2 months. These heads will produce an easy 2.2hp per ci. Multiply 440 x 2.2, and imagine *that* in a properly prepared F-body.

Even though our 06' heads flow 345cfm, these are not the heads we want to use to race. 420 or 345...which one would you use

Nick...in reference to your post on 18 degree heads:

Chevrolet offers 18 degree full-tilt-boogie small block performance heads for the carb. racing guys, AND they flow over 400cfm.

Chevrolet offers Gen-3 racing heads for the LS1, and they flow over 400cfm.
You can race with "06" heads or Gen-3 heads.
Personally, I would choose the Gen-3 heads (ours flow 420cfm) over the "06" heads (ours flow 345cfm).
The LS1 heads flow 280cfm to 320cfm, depending upon who does them.

Point is...the 18 degree heads offer nothing over the Gen-3 heads, except the joy of tuning carbs.
The Speed-Pro engine management system allows you to dial-in your tune-up on the chassis dyno.

If you want a custom "LT-Super Spyder" intake for the 18 degree heads, we can do it.

"Chevrolet offers Gen-3 racing heads for the LS1, and they flow over 400cfm."

Is that the same thing as "C5-R" heads?

to my knowledge yes...P/N 12480005 or 12480090. the 0090-head has extra material for porting is says.

Colonel...yes, it comes with no seats & no guides, and cost twice what a "06" with seats & guides. It has a beautiful high oval intake port, and uses a 2.18" intake & 1.65" exhaust.
It has a 39cc combustion chamber which works out to 17:1 compression with a flat top piston. It is approx. 14:1 with a 30cc reverse deflector dish.

The cost to the consumer (at 420cfm) is about the same as a "06" head that flows 345cfm. You have no idea what it cost to build a 345cfm "06" head. What a pain in the a$$

Can you fantasize a 440ci, 14.5:1, 420cfm engine on the street? Add titanium rods, casadium coated titanium pins, titanium intake valves, titanium exhaust valves, Jesel rockers, Speed-Pro engine management system, and topped-off (no pun intended) with a "LS-Gen3-Super Spyder"...in your "street car".
I did!! We sell it under the name of "XtremeXotix" Racing Engines.

This engine will be in a pewter Camaro by April 1, 2002. IT'S PARTY TIME!!

Add...dual-stage NX "Gemini-Twin" methanol nitrous systems, with dual "F.R.E.D." computers.

John, which of these two would be best? I would assume the 0090?

Stephen, I believe the 0090 head is just a little more "unfinished" to allow the porter a little more latitude in his port design process. BTW, the pewter car that John is talking about is mine. I am sick and F#$%ing tired of the politics involved with being a shop owner in this industry. I have dealt with John Stewart, Nick Agostino, Rob Raymer, George from Turbo technologies, Tom porter from incon, Paul and Angie from thunder......and on, and on, and on. 99.9% of the time I get a satisfactory result when dealing with anybody in the "LS1 world". As of late, I see a bunch of tension building in between some of the top names. IMHO, this needs to stop. I am always going to be looking for new and innovative ways of doing things, and I think we all need to work together to continue on a path that will continue to advance LS1 engine development in all areas. That being said, how about we keep the flames to a minimum and get on with the process of building fast cars.

12480005-Gen3's are the heads we use.

I called the Chevy dealer about p/n 12480090, and he said he couldn't find it...

Yeah, I found the same thing today. That part # isn't in the computer but it IS in the GM Performance Parts catalog. The dealer is checking further into it.

I've had some e-mail with questions about the exhaust rules in the Street Stock classes. To clarify car must have full exhaust and exit in the stock location or strait out the back. Example... 1st gen cars with OEM exhaust exit behind the rear wheels. It's OK to run the pipes strait out back.

If you have any questions please ask.
