Angie 3150 raceweight?
You can't surely mean with you in the car?
what weight reduction have you done?
I Love that steering wheel! How much did it cost and what did you have to do to get it to fit? How much weight savings?
thanks!

Yes, that's with driver

The car was a stripper when we got it...no power windows or locks, no t-tops, no cruise. Heck, it you have to open the hatch with the KEY! I had it down to 3335 w/ driver and the car still had AC, heat, passenger airbag, bumper supports, etc. I also have a tubular k-member/a-arms/manual steering rack. We just put her on another diet and took out the passenger airbag, removed all of the AC/heater core, bumper supports and changed to a new 3" y-pipe w/ a 4" bullet muffler and turn-down. We also changed to a narrowed rear end (looks MUCH better!) and a spool, which is lighter.

The steering wheel is the "Race" from Momo and it's one of my favorite things about the car. You have to get a hub adapter and it has to be slightly machined to go with the stock steering column or the steering wheel will bind-up. The steering wheels are $209 and the adapters are $55. I don't know how much lighter the actual wheel is. I just wanted to get rid of the airbag because I sit so close to the wheel and didn't want it going off in my face

You may have noticed the brace that supports the top of my seat... for most people, the roll cage serves as a back support, but since I have to sit so close to the wheel, it leaves like a one foot gap between the seat and the roll bar. Basically, they told me to put a brace there before we came back to the track, so that's what we came up with. It has a bar that slides in and out and locks with a pin so Geoff can get in the car also. That actually added about 10 more lbs to the car.

The carpet was installed by a friend of ours who does upholstry work. He normally only does high end street-rod stuff, but he managed to do a pretty good job on my plain-jane carpet It was about $450 installed and he used felt to fill in the bumps and contours of the floor pan so it would be smooth looking.

I also still need to take out the passenger seatbelt...my original intent was to put a passenger seat back in the car, but that probably won't happen anytime soon

Angie,
you have any pics and/or sounds files of that exhaust?

Just curious how loud it is, inside & out.

I was thinking for a slick quiet, but high performance exhaust. . . have 2 of the power McCord Cut-outs, one on each side of the Y-pipe, and then a ~2 1/2" REAL QUIET muffler w/ a turndown after the Y. Then it's ultra quiet w/o all the tailpipe crap.

Thanks
Mike

No pics, yet, but when I get it up on the lift again (may be a few weeks) I'll post some.

If by functioning windows you mean windows capable of being rolled down, no. I don't have power windows, so all it was was the roller handle, and I removed that.

[quote]Originally posted by Matt98SS:

No, sir. 3206 lbs. Still 106 lbs. away from the lowest raceweight on the bolt-on list.

[quote]Originally posted by Mike Hoffpauir:

How is that sickening when the A4 bolt-on leader's raceweight is 3100 and mine is 3200? I mean, not that I give a **** if you don't like it, but I'm just wondering.

[quote]Originally posted by Playdough:

Yes, it is hardcore. I never said anyone else should do it. I wouldn't do it either, if any of the following statements were true.

A) I wasn't on a mission to prove that the M6 bolt-on cars are just as fast or faster than the A4 bolt-on cars.
B) I was a big *****.
C) All the **** people give me for doing it bothered me in the least.
D) It wasn't so much fun.

I lost about 300 lbs.

The thing about Rageman's car is this:

I can have a 14.0 second LS1 M6, and his can run 11.0.

If it's gutted like it looks above, I'm not impressed.

I mean, the first time they posted results about Rageman's car, I was like, "WOW, that's fast for a bolt-on car."
Then I saw the pics. And I closed the threads and the 11 second 118mph bolt-on M6 car disappeared from my head.

BTW, Alan, nice times.

btw, that goes for A4's that are stripped and ugly!

Angie's car looks very nice though. . .and a pass. seat making it LIVABLE would add negligible weight.

Okay, forgive me, sir, but I had a hard time reading the tone of your post. But, at any rate, let me just say that it is not my goal to impress you or anyone else. My goal is to break 11.303, and I will do so using whatever means necessary, including weight reduction, which the A4 guys have been doing for a long time now. And if it was my car you referring to in the "11 second 118mph bolt-on M6 car" comment, it should say 11-second 119 mph bolt-on car, and after this weekend, Lord willing, it will be a 120 mph car. Goals this weekend (if my tranny/rear/clutch hold up) are 11.55 @ 121 (1.75). We'll see what happens, though.
