Default MWC front bumper support problem

Is anyone else having issues with the front bumper support being so tight on the inside of the bumper not allowing any room to pull the bumper toward the hood ( the area I'm talking about is where the hood meets the bumper up front ) Causing about an 1/2-3/4 inch gap between the front bumper and the hood once it's closed . The hood is absolutely perfect so there is no adjustment there without screwing up the gaps by the windshield ... Any ideas on how to fix and is anyone else having or have heard of this issue

Mine fit so tight you can see where it contacts outside of the car.

Damn , well I've been messing with it some , next to just taking it out my only option is to adjust the hood forward a little bit, I hate to but it's my only option

Anyone local that could cut/reweld it? If so I'd go that route just get measurements so you can give Eric that feedback. This kind of stuff isn't always a perfect fit because it was likely designed off a car, and we all know these do vary some. That kind of thing is good to let the manufacturer know about in case there's a tolerance, and so he can check his tooling as well make sure it didn't shift or the like.

Can you message me which make, model, and version you have so I can check them to make sure nothing has been altered. Bumper supports are hot selling items and we haven't had anyone complain about fitment issues with any of our versions. Our fixture locates how they need to fit in a vehicle and like JL ws-6 mentioned we are dealing with vehicles that have some age on them. Dealing with previous damage or bumpers that have altered shape over the years.

I'd like to know if it's hitting in the center, side's or both.

nj02z I'd also like to know your version as well please.

nj02z thanks for PM me back and glad you got some resolution. These bumper supports are tight fittings to hold the bumper in place.

1nastyss as soon as we figure out what version you have we can see if we can figure something out. Two years ago they may or may not of been stamped at the time, as soon as you give me that answer we can make sure it is the proper one and go from there.

If you look at this pic of my car, you can see were the Midwest Bumper Support hit in the middle of the cover. Not complaining, every car is different. I had to take it back out.

I have the exact opposite problem with mine. The support does not touch my bumper at all. I can slide my fingers around the whole support with the bumper on without a problem

Sorry for the tight fit. The variations we run into are crazy as you can see by the customer below his isn't tight at all yet they are all built on the same body style specific fixture and have to be a certain shape to fit with in the fixture.

Intercooler version are a tight fit so it allows the most room to fit an intercooler. Our 98-02 Trans Am & Firebird actually catch the license plate area instead of the front point of the bumper.

If you would like to snug it up in this situation you can go to any local home improvement store and pic up some Polyethylene Foam Pipe Insulation to wrap around the nose portion of the bumper support.

Other things to try with possible tight fitting bumper supports is to shim the top down if it is to tight.

I hope that helps and we appreciate all the feedback.

Picture of our 98-02 Trans Am fog light bumper support. Formula looks very simular minus the fog light brackets.

This is our 98-02 Camaro front bumper support. 93-97 Camaro is similar in shape and height.

Good example of a customer using our intercooler version to fit and mount their intercooler.

Yes it's funny how much variation these cars have from one another, I have another 1994 Pontiac Firebird and I can tell you from working on both of them they are different.

I have your rear bumper support also and it fits great.

I was able to fab up a couple brackets to make it work. One thing I would suggest is the two tabs that you are suppose to use to attach it to the bumper, move them to the center a little bit more. On mine the one tab is right in the corner of the license plate area and I couldnt easily use it. If that makes sense.

Mine fits so tight that my front bumper has a gap to the fenders. But I deal with it because it's what's holding my intercooler in
