Default ET Streets (street driving)

Ok, ET Streets suck on the street. After about a 10 second burnout, I let it roll forward about 20 feet or so and stopped. Revved the car up to about 3 grand, dumped the clutch and floored it. Spun up to redline instantly. I tried this 3 or 4 times with the same results. Tire pressure was at 18psi. They better hook tomorrow at the strip or i'm ordering 28inch ET DRAGS on Monday.

Note: This was my first experience EVER on drag tires. A buddy of mine has a setup exactley like mine, except with BFGs. He hooked twice as hard.

What the heck?

my car is always prettying finiky on the street with slicks. guess it depends what pavement you are on maybe. sometimes they will spin all the way though 2nd gear, sometimes they will stick and go like im at the track

I've always wondered how well the ET streets hook compared to the ET drags....I might have to step up to the next level pretty soon if these don't work out...

BigSS - my 11.14 was on Et Streets, and the narrow ones at that (26x10.5x16). They hook pretty well. Good chance that the road, or whatever was on it was the problem.

I doubt you'll be able to find a DOT tire to hook any better.

They will work much better at the track, which is really what they are designed for.

Do a really good burnout with them, and personally, I'd lower the air pressure.

Good luck.

by the way, my 28" et drags had the same issues as my 26" et streets on the street, so just switching that way wont eliminate it for you, though they should hook better. just look for the smoothest grain of pavement possible to run on, or concrete if you can find any good patches of it to run on. slicks just plain dont like rough pavement, and it will also tear the rubber up pretty fast doing burnouts on streets like that

Ok, I went to a newly paved road, and tried some quick launches there. It did launch "better." I could get away with 3grand dumps. I'm feeling a little better now.

But now I have another question:

Does you car feel any slower (HP wise) when you have your ET Streets on? I only rowed it through the first 3 gears, but it didn't seem to be pulling as hard. Perhaps because there is no tire spin, so I don't have to shift quite as quick??
