Default Removing the inner-door bars?

Is there a semi-easy way to do this? Looking at it, I can't see anything other than cutting them out in pieces.

Can anyone who's removed theirs offer some tips?

No easy way unless you want to remove the entire outer door skin and bond it back on... I cut mine out in pieces with an air-powered cut off wheel.

I don't remember what they weighed, but it seems like around 5-6lbs each (not a whole lot, IMHO).

IC... Hardly seems worth the trouble for the minimal weight savings.

The bars bolt in they weigh 5.75 lbs each. They have to be cut in two.

Yes you HAVE to cut them out. I unbolted them on both sides trying to somehow get them out one of the holes, but they're too long. And it's not easy to cut them either, they are THICK! It actually turned out to be quite the project because the bolts are REALLY hard to get at. There a LOT easier ways to remove weight, this was harder than the P/A K-member swap in my opinion.

And don't know about your cars, buy they were 8lbs per side in my car. Then again, maybe the SS came with thicker bars. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

You cut the bolts and not the bars? I haven't looked at mine yet. Always wanted to do this but never did.

No you don't cut the bolts off. Once you have them unbolted and the bar falls down in the door, you'll cut them off about 1/3 of the way up and it'll come right out.

So that means you cannot put them back in, right?
