MIR: June 19, 2004 Shakedown runs - (10.2 - 10.4) 2300' DA
We went to the track tonight and were greeted with some hot humid conditions. Tonight the Temps were in the low 80s, Humidity 95%+ and the air pressure was a scant 29.8x. I think the DA was close to 2200-2300. We made 3 passes, each had 60s in the 1.45-1.48 range. Once again we ran into fuel problems. Switching to the 3" exhaust and new fuel system left the car 12.2:1 all motor and on the bottle the air-fuel ratio was just all over the place. We pulled a couple of plugs and they are getting hot and starting to melt so I know its very lean. A/F was in the 13.5-15.5:1 range which is way to lean. I am not sure if I should pull some timing, richen the car up, turn the BAP up some more(40%), or dump some hi-po fuel. The car wanted to spin hard out of the hole but seemed to 60' pretty well, we were leaving at 6500 spraying out of the hole. Here's the rundowns....
Round 1:
10.3x @ 131(1.48 60')
Round 2: Raced a local guy who had been wanting to line up for months
10.40 @ 133(1.47 60') Shorting shifting got loose @ 1/8 and 1000'
Round 3:
10.2x @ 133(1.46 60') Got loose again at the 1/8 and 1000'
Do I need to go to a direct port kit to make my fuel ratio more consistent? I am gonna pull the plugs and see whats going on inside....

I just picked the car up a few weeks ago, could not pass it up 98 with only 27K miles garage kept for $12,000 (and no mods done) Actually Ive been looking for somone that can mod this thing Im pretty good with older carb cars but this LS1 is blowing my mind, you must really know your **** man!! I give you much respect.
This friday Im ordering 3.73's and I guess the stupid hpp programer so I can change the gear settings in the computer, me and my dad will put them in probly the following weekend along with air lid and crap like that.
future mods im going to need help with are converter TCI with a 3800 stall

Do you know how to use ls1 edit? this is my main concern, I relize I need to get a laptop and the program but dont even want to attempt adjustments.
Let me know what you can do as far as
headers
converter
cam
LS1 edit
heads (not sure wich ones)
Name your price I have no problum paying somone as long as they know what there doing and you do, plus your right around the corner , I really did not want to go to f-body central cause I get lost every time I go to baltimore probly cause every time I do im

Scott,
Yeah, I'll hook you up. I can do everything from Build shortblocks to Custom Fab. I have all of the tools + a nice tig welder. Let me know what you need....Did you see my race against the 03 Cobra? Can you say 5 cars by the 330' mark. It was pitiful. We're changing my setup to run a big shot of nitrous...considering its gone 135mph on a 100 shot, a 300 shot is gonna be insane.

I just found the problem with my fuel system that was causing teh car to run really lean. All motor the car would run 12.25-12.5:1 and as soon as I sprayed it woudl go to 15.5:1. Found that the fuel line coming off the solenoid was really loose and fuel was shooting on to the intake manifold and hoodliner. The car should fly with the fuel system fixed....

I went over the whole system last night and found that all of the an fittings except the ones on the nozzles were either loose or not tight enough to seal them. To run a dry shot you need to place the nozzles infront of the MAF so the computer can add for the added airflow. This friday should be pretty nuts....We're shooting for high 130s in the traps and low 1.4 60's

Stout.
When we played with dry nitrous several years ago we took care to
a) not have the dry nozzles spray right onto the MAF wires
and
b) made sure that we had the dry nozzle plumbed in where it would provide maximum value, too far away and it took too long to have maximum effect.
How much timing are you running?
