Patrick G:
You hit the nail on the head. It's all about dialing in your combo and working on setting up the car. When the heads/cam originally went in 3 years ago, my first runs were in the 12.7 range. After minor tweaking it ran in the 12.2-3 range with the 6 speed. After clutch issues, I got serious and installed the A4 & TP4400. And I've made many adjustments and lightened the car considerably and continuously improved ET. In the last 3 months, I've gone from a baseline of 11.7 to 10.8 now. And this is without adding ANY power.
And the funny thing is, I don't think it's even close to dialed. I haven't touched the MAFT yet because my Autotap program isn't working. I'm running a stock MAF. The outdated, stock intake valved heads. And a MMS224 .535 lift cam that is costing me considerable power compared to the aggressive ramped cams available today. I'm shifting WAY above my peak hp. Not only that, I haven't made a pass where I didn't spin yet. With full slicks I think 1.3X 60's are possible at my weight. And I'm still awaiting a good DA day.
I'm not going to make excuses about the West's tracks because you CAN run good times here for sure. And I guess if you want to compare to other cars around the country or run in the best weather/track conditions you have to make a road trip. I'm definately going to make a trip to houston this winter sometime. Not only will I be able to put some faces to the names on the board, but I'll get to know some people on this board a bit better whom I consider friends because we spend so much time together on this board.
The car doesn't sit that much higher with the prokit at 3100lbs. Besides, I've got adjustable hal's in the front. I've been thinking about lowering it down a bit in the front again to help the big end.
I'm expecting low 10.80's the next time out. A little at a time I keep telling myself.

Nice job!
It's cool to see our members from coast to coast run 10's with stock shortblocks!
How much have you experimented with shift points?

Congrats Scott! I'm very impressed. Who ever said you needed huge valves to make power w/ the stock bore??

PSJ:
I haven't messed with the shift points at all. I have Ed Wright tuning and I had him set them at 6800 in anticipation of a little larger cam. But I haven't gotten that for yet. That comes when the rest gets dialed in. Then I'll know what it likes when I make the swap.
Jason 99T/A:
Well now we know it doesn't take large valves. What's wrong with stock??
Raughammer:
Thx Raugh. I looked at what the quickest guys were running (you being the fastest) and tried to understand why you guys were running well. I got it figured out and it all starts with the Yank Convertor.
I know you know about as much as anyone else about LS1 cams etc. What kind of gains are there by swapping my 224 .535 lift cam that peaks around 6200 or so for say an XER 224 like yours or even a 226 or 228 duration cam that peaks up near 6600 or so?
BTW, have you tried 28" tire yet???
RUQUIKR:
I hope that I'll see some this year. Sacramento is 5.5 hrs away but sits at 80ft. and often gets negative DA weather. If I get any closer to the Raugh at my home track, I'll be down there in a flash.

Jantzer 98SS I just now realized you are closing in on the fastest time in the country (Raughammer's) and that is fantastic---because of your willingness to share information and assist me with my questions==I hope indeed you break the record and believe you will and set the new standard---so that others will follow suit. Anyway--wishing you the best and keep on helping me just to get down in the lower eleven's one day soon. Kent.

Re: Jantzer Performance 10.89 @ 122 NA / Stock Shortblock!
Terry,
You can get the tensioner direct from Meziere or from one of their distributors (actually cheaper that way). Let me guess...MMS.
Kent:
Thanks buddy, but I've got a long way to go. I'm ordering slicks so that's a step in the right direction. When I hit the 10.7 range I'll know I'm in sriking distance. If I get in the low 1.4 range or even 1.3, then I'm right there.
If I know RAUGHAMMER, he'll be working on getting that NEW lightweight Carbon Fiber hood. Maybe I'll get mine first. Luckily this time of year, HRP is pretty warm. But I'm running out of good days myself.
It should be interesting.
