Best way to launch... Hi,
I'm a newbie here and I was wondering: waht's teh ebst way to launch my z28 automatic? I don't like spinning out and that eats away aat times and tires. I'm on stock street ires and will be going to the track soon jsut to test it out and have fun. Any tips on how to launch it so i can get the best ET times?

Re: Best way to launch... I used to just stall mine up to ~1100rpms and then just roll into the throttle off the line. I was able to get fairly consistent 1.9x 60 foot times with this method. Hopefully more people will chime in with their methods as well.

Re: Best way to launch... Drive around the water box and back into the water. Do a burnout for approx. 5 seconds, just enough to get the tires hot. Try and stay in the main groove where most of the rubber is laid down. Foot brake the car to as high of an RPM as possible without making the car skate forward, and NAIL IT when you see the last yellow light. Try setting your air pressure to around 20 PSI.

Re: Best way to launch... I'm having trouble launching too. It's because I'm on stock street tires as well. I've made about 10 passes so far. I drive around the bleach box. I don't back up into the water because I'm told that the water gets "trapped" in the tread and it causes the wheels to spin. My 60' have all sucked. The best is a 2.1. I'll brake torque it to about 1100-1200 rpms then mash it. My best e/t is 13.5. I think i'd be at 13.0 if I could hook up. Next time I'm going to try a few different methods. Maybe a little less throttle right off the line, then mash away.
Question: for the a4 guys. At the track, do you run in "OD" or in "D" ???
