Nitto DR's are the least stickiest of the drag radials. But they last the longest.

Some 275 width M/T's are what you need.

I would like to stick with a stock rim. and 26" tall tires. but I guess if I want it to hook I might just have to get another set of rims

Even with your mods those 555R's are gonna spin some no matter what. Suspension mods would help some but it would be cheaper, easier and more effective to get some stickier tires

May want to adjust the psi. 18psi was the sweet spot for my setup (MT SS drs). It all depends on the weight of your car and track conditions.

If mileage or handleling isn't much concern the MT or Hoosier is your best bet. M&H may have one that fits as well but not sure.

I use MT 16x255 R drag radials. Set at 18 psi and a small burnout yields 1.8x 60's with zero tire spin on a track with moderate prep.

275/60/15 ET streets. Start at 22 and work down but 22 seems to be my sweet spot. Long burnout for the first pass and then a light burn gets it done after that

I would drop the tire pressure down to 16 psi with the 555r and get into 3rd when doing a burnout and let the smoke roll for a good 5 seconds.

I had the same issues with the 555r. Line lock and looong burn out still resulted in spinning. Went with toyo tq 255/50/16 and went multiple low 1.6x. Tire pressure 15-17.

When I had the 555r's and hit the track early before all the test$tune guys roll a lot of water up towards the lights I would get low 1.6 sixty foot's with a 10 second burnout though. lol. Went to the nto5r (small burn out) a little better but still cant floor it. The T/A likes to squat a lot. A set of double adjustables set up for max pressure on the down force and stiffer rear springs should solve the problem and hook.
I just ordered the Hoosier dot radial ddr2 295/50/16- 28x10.5x16. Hopefully these will glue me to the ground even on a poor track. Ill let you know.
I'm putting them on the stock T/A chrome 16x8's. Anyone know if the stock rims will take the punishment....
Ill do the shocks and springs after and see if I can go back to a 26" tire for gearing. The 28's make 4:10's like 3:80's opposed to the 26's
