Default help! my mph sux

I have MTI head/cam car, all bolt ons, FLP level 4 tranny, vig 3600, etc etc blah blah

I only run 12.0 @ 111 with 1.7's 60' on drag radials.This is on an unseasonably cool night...around 50 degrees or so.

MANY other stock internal cars are running same or better MPH. (willwaxu, my98ta(i think), to name a few)

My car seems to run fine, ie no problems, but what gives.

hmm...
Have you dynoed or tuned the car on a dyno?
Any tranny problems slipping etc?
What is your vehicle weight, tire type and gearing in the car?
You should be running anywhere from 6-9mph faster than what you are depending on weight etc.
torque management maybe?
What cam are you running?
Stock exhaust? headers, catback cutout combo?
need more info.
Cheers,
Chris

no dyno avail. around here
no tranny problems
fully optioned SS w/o t-tops weight(only spare/jack removed) chrome zr1's 315's on rear(heavy) drag radials and stock 3.23 gear
torque management still there(mti tuning left that)
cam is 224/224/561/561-112 MTI not TR
FLP headers, ORP, SLP dual duals

I have autotap runs logged but dont know how to post. o2's are between .88-.93, I show some KR but I think its torque management related 1-2*, max 28* timing
thanks for any help!!

hmm...
Very strange, I would try and find a dyno and wideband the car.
Are you at high altitude?
Your timing looks ok and your KR isnt super severe.
Good luck,
Chris

only advice i can give ya is get on a dyno soon to see whats up. On a 1.7 60 with heads/cam you should atleast be above 115mph i would think.

find a dyno where a guy knows about our cars and tune with wideband!!

also it seems like your et's are right where they would be with just the converter and drag radials. Like chris asked, whats your elevation out there?? the et and mph are dead on for each other, it just seems that your missing 75+hp somewhere?

not sure what my exact altitude is bit its NOT high...weather was cool but humid this last weekend, weekend before it was hot. I was hoping for better since it was cooler but it stayed around 111mph.

could it be the gear? looking at autotap i go through the traps at 5500 rpm.

BUT aren't there 3.23 cars going much faster?

3.73s would add 1, maybe 2 mph.

What are you doing for tires? you should be in the high 1.6x 60' even with 3.23s, so the question is traction or lack of power?

Post your whole slip so we have 330, 1/8, and 1000 data.

Do you run with anyone with an LS1 so that you can benchmark you car against someone at the same track? Do you have times from before the H&C install?

Something isn't right. 111 mph is about 350 rwhp.

hard to diagnose why the power is down over the net. Soooo many things possible. Sometimes its just something small that is overlooked that can really wake up a car.

Who did the installation? How old is the setup? Stage 1 or 2?

I did the installation myself. The set-up is only a month old since rebuild. freshened up bottom end, and had heads checked, everything should be 100%.

only car to compare is a 6 speed ta with pullies, lid, grott headers ORP, borla(open), drag radials, 12.66@110 1.95 60'

You ran 7 mph higher than an 02. The 02's stock are at least 2 mph faster than stock 98s & 99s and 1 mph faster than 00s.

KR is not the same as TM, so you have an issue there.

Becareful comparing your car to others that aren't at the track with you and in the same conditions.

I'm will to bet my car is a little more track ready than yours... solely based on the 60fts.

Were you spinning?

BTW: Saying a 6spd ran a slower MPH says you are making pretty good power... even if it's stock.

Lastly.. what's your converter, rear setup?

BTW: my car is shifting at 6200-6300, it should shift at 6500-6600.

Do you think this is making that big of a difference?

I am running autolite 103 plugs for occasional n2o use. Could this be making a difference?
