Default Worth it to change exhaust..

Hi fellas, trying to get some input. Right now I'm running tsp 1 7/8 header into their y-pipe. I cut the bottleneck off at the end so it is a 3 1/2 open going into the 3 1/2 tailpipe. Running a straight thru dynomax 3 1/2 muffler and turndown.

I was thinking of running dynomax race bullets off of the headers for max performance. Anyone think I'll pick up any et by switching? It will drop around 20-25lbs in the process but not sure if it will actually pick up performance.

That's what I'm afraid of. Not really a fan of making the car any louder either

Good info there. Iirc our setups are pretty similar so that probably a good indication of what it would do on mine. Thanks

Yeah. I didn't think you'll pick up much more power.

You can test by running open headers and see what your gains are or aren't.

I kept getting flack about my 2.5" full exhaust and being Flowmasters....started to think about a 3" system.

I tried just the H-pipe by removing the tails and muffs...and then open headers by removing the H-pipe....over-all I got about .1 better ET and less than 1mph.....guessing was due to the weight loss.....not worth it to me at all.
..................................................

Soooo, I'm going to say no change.

Yep I'm gonna stick with what I have now. Not too loud and performance is good.

Every setup is a little different, I've done this test several times where we had c amount of pipe off the collector and tried trimming it back until nothing was gained or lost on the track... honestly the headers and enough pipe for your o2 to work right has always netted best et/mph, but at the cost of being race car loud..... best bet, is to oversize the pipe enough so that there is no restriction. 3.5 for an na motor under 400 inch under 7500rpm motor will be enough
