Technically ????? maybe ?????? Not that I would.

I have seen some stuff on Friday nite TNT's that shouldn't be on the street, let alone a track (for one....regular nuts with washers holding the rear tires on )

I run my battery in the T top well using a Moroso box, sits same level as that battery, but only about 12" forward, and inside the car, were its safe.

8:1 BATTERIES
All batteries must be securely mounted; must be of sufficient
capacity to start vehicle at any time. Batteries may not be relocated
into the driver or passenger compartments. Rear firewall of .024-
inch steel or .032-inch aluminum (including package tray) required
when battery is relocated in trunk. In lieu of rear firewall, battery
may be located in a sealed .024-inch steel, .032-inch aluminum, or
NHRA-accepted poly box. If sealed box is used in lieu of rear
firewall, box may not be used to secure battery and must be vented
outside of body. Relocated battery(s) must be fastened to frame or
frame structure with a minimum of two 3/8-inch-diameter bolts.
OEM located batteries without complete OEM hold-down hardware
must be secured to OEM battery box/tray using the same 3/8-inchdiameter
bolt hold-down method described in previous sentence.
(“J” hooks prohibited or must have open end welded shut.) Metal
battery hold-down straps mandatory. Strapping tape prohibited. A
maximum of two automobile batteries, or 150 pounds combined
maximum weight (unless otherwise specified in Class
Requirements), is permitted. Maximums may vary according to
Class Requirements.

When I first seen this thread, I was pretty certain it was considered legal, as I was planning to do something similar myself. (Ended up in the spare tire well)
Now that doesn't really take away from the fact that whatever is going on in that photo looks atrocious.

Moroso battery is box is only about 60 bucks from summit, not sure why anyone would mount a battery like in the above picture. If you cant afford 60 bucks, you cant afford to race.

How did you get it to mount through the left or right frame rail if it's sitting inside the T-top well? Bolts need to go through the battery box through the frame rail to be NHRA legal from what I understood.

Edit: I guess that area is considered "frame structure".

So is mounting it in the T-Top well NHRA legal or not? I was going to put the bolts through the frame rail, driver side in the trunk but if I can put it in the t-top well that would be better.
