Actually my car isn't all that light. Regardless I argue objectively, I don't have any problems arguing against something that I personally believe in, or arguing for something I can't stand.

Right I just like to argue. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> If my mom can drive it, its a street car. If my mom can't drive it, its a race car. My mom would have a hard time driving my car right now. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

To me a streetcar is one that the OTHER HALF thinks is not too loud, too hot, or too ghetto. I went past that point in a big way with the true duals and ghetto carpet.

Jay everyone has their own opinion. The mom test aside in my book if someone daily drives the car, I will let them call it a street car. If someone trailers the car around, I will not let them call it a street car. IE JS does not have a street car. Tony's car is borderline. My car is a street car because I drive it, but since my mom couldn't drive it its not _really_ a street car, more a race car I drive on the street.

well terry i hate to burst your bubble but JS does drive his on the street but i agree it is NOT a street car. first and foremost i Feel a "STREET CAR" must be able to pass the safety inspection "NHTSA crash test" for the year it was produced. ie bumpers, air bags, side door beams, and ABS brakes on our cars. I know this hurts alot of you our there but I feel it is for your own safeth as well as the others on the road with you just think about that next time you pull your bumper and then a mother of four in a minivan blows a stopstreet in front of you and because you took off your brake booster you can't slow down fast enough and you hit her. because you took the bumper impact bar out both your front subframe rails pierce through the side of the minivan and 2 or 3 of the children die but you miraculously live how's that gonna way on your mind food for thought boys.

I agree with the bumper support thing and the crash test thing as well. That is a very good point Jay <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
ABS is sometimes out of control for some cars. (alot nine inch rears arent ABS equipped)
Cheers,
Chris

Jay and Chris,

I would have to agree with you on this one. This is coming from someone that has his bumper supports off his Hot Rod. I do not drive my Hot Rod on the street that much.(Only when I have to). It is a Race Car that I drive on the street. Not a street car that I race at the track. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

People need to be very careful driving on the street if they do major weight reduction. <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" /> IMO.

My car is borderline because it has a big motor in it?

My car is MUCH more streetable than yours Terry, I still nailed 21 mpg on a 150-mile trip this past weekend in the car.

My car still has:

Air conditioning
full stereo system (adding a subwoofer!)
all bumper supports
all door impact bars
both airbags
full leather interior and sound deadening under carpet
ABS
full exhaust
stock brakes
runs on 93 octane
is very quiet (imagine a stock car with some lope)
No loose-*** converter
Two overdrives (T56)
Non-electric waterpump (more reliable)

The only part about my car that could be "borderline" for most people is the excessive power.

PS, I drove the car to work today and yesterday. 80 miles round trip. I put about 200 miles a week on it if it isn't raining outside.

Anyone in Houston will vouch that this car does not appear or drive badly, most can't believe how well it performs at the track.

</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Tony I think you missed most of this conversation. The main definition here is if someone trailers their car around its not a street car. If they daily drive it, its a street car. If they daily drive it but their Mom (or grandma) couldn't jump in the car and drive it to church, it's borderline. I said your car is borderline because you do trailer it around, its not your primary driver (yet it used to be, what changed?), and I don't think my Mom could drive it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I drive my car around 200 mile a week too, plus 150 mile each way trips to the track. It's quiet as stock, has a nice stereo, comfortable drivers seat, gets 20mpg, and looks very nice. By that criteria its a street car too right? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Actually, my Son's Mom drove my car daily with the 382ci in it when I was driving her Ranger (beater) to work. She had no complaints. And yes, my Mom could drive the car as well. Plenty of my ex-girlfriends have driven it, I'd just tell them not to go past 3000 rpm or they would blow the engine up. LOL!

Look at the new Aluminum Roll-Backs before you buy. Only 1,300# approx. and No Ramps. Slants down to a 5 degree angle. Roush District Manager for the Mid-West got one 2+ years ago and you know how low to the ground he is. Check it out!
