Default building a g body to run mid-low 10's

I picked up a fairly straight '79 coupe and have begun the process of readying it to go fast.

I've read and reread the NHRA rule book and I'm still not ready to start cutting and zappin.

So my plan is to do a main hoop, halo bar, seat bar with attachments for sfi 5 pt belts, a-pillar bars and back bars.

My questions are:

Will I need door bars to run 10's ? ( I'm guessing yes since they count as one of the ten points?)

Will I need main hoop brace bars with a frame car? (frame is unmodified) I think no?

Can I use 1.75" .134 wall CREW? I have a full stick of it from 4x4 stuff and steel is crazy expensive right now (also I only have a 1.75 die for my bender)

can I put a bend in my back bars to keep the rear seats semi functional? (following the roof and the c-pillar)

I have also seen incredibly inexpensive 10 pt kits with just the main hoop, the halo and the a pillar bars....like cheaper than i can buy the material for....any one care to comment on that?

I am in Portland OR and if anyone has any insights on where to buy tube, I'd appreciate it

A 6 point bar is good to 10.00.You will also need up to date belts and a sfi jacket. .If you use chromoly it will need to be tig welded and if you use mild steel it can be mig welded. S&W race cars probably sells a kit for your car.

Yes, 6 point will be fine (actually 5 point works) and being a full frame car, it MUST attach to the frame (unibodies need 6"x6"x1/8" plates)

thanks guys, that clears up a lot.

on a roll bar like the 5 (or 6) pt one above, can you make the door bars swing out?
