Do you have the "paint mark" on slicks to tell if they are spinning???? I know that helps alot.
What kind of slicks were the cars running that were beating you??? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

As you say your car hooks real good. Some of the us Guys have actually watched you race and we can
say your car is hooking really well.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I'd bet that it has more to do with my car's heavier weight that helps it hook well.

I can see the Hoosiers didnt work well on your hot rod coach but I dont fully understand how you can have a slick that is too soft.

Can anyone explain why you can have too soft of a tire?

Sean,

I just talked to another very heavy hitter in NHRA Stock Elim. points race(Stick Shift) and we discussed this in great length. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

The Hoosiers that I had were the wrong compound for a stick Hot Rod.(D05 you need a D07)They don't made a 28x10x15 D07 tire.

The side walls are too soft and the compound rolls up under the tire when launching at 6,500 rpms. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

He told me that I really need to run a 29.5x9x15 M/T tire that is made for a stick Hot Rod. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

I will be getting this tire(29.5x9x15) this winter when I get the wheel wells opened up and put in the 5.14 or the 5.38 gear. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

I want the record for a 346 LS1 M6 Hot Rod. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Call me if you want to talk more and Thanks. <img border="0" alt="[pimp]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_pimp.gif" />

Coach
I run an lt1 6 peed car that I leave at around 6500 rpm.The car leaves very hard.I was running a very old set of m/t et drags spinning to a mid to high 1.60.

We went to our local Hoosier dealer here in ct. to pick up some circle track tires and I started talking slicks with the rep.He said everything you said in a nutshell. The do5 is to soft for a stick car leaving that hard and the do7 is the compound you want.He did say they were coming out with a 28 inch do7 slick.I cant remember if he said it is already available I am not sure.

But He did talk me into a set of quick time pros.
It is the same compound he tells me Do7 With just the 3 little grooves in them. And the same sidewhall Not stiffer like an e/t street.

Well we had mixed results the first time out.We do have a brand new suspension under the car with a fairly short tourque arm that I am trying.

First launch a terrible 1.8 We got great weight transfer but instally unloaded the rear and then spun badly.Possiblly the short arm I need too do some adjustment on it for instant center. The right rear was jaming up in the rear badly (I never got a chance to install my anti Roll bar)So we tightenend up the right rear shock.Same result hit very hard then unloaded and spun threw 2 gear to another 1.8
At this time we were runing 11 lbs. Then we noticed that the rims were spinning in the tires.Never a problem before the new suspension work.I went up to 15lbs and lossend the shocks and spunn to a 1.95.At this point we packed up.

We will be back in about a week and do some more testing.WE should have the bar in then and the tires screwed.

A couple of things to note it was at e-town.Their was minamal trck prep it poured the night before and thier were only 6 slick cars their compared to about 100 radial tire cars..

I am still optimistic about this tire.

ED,

Thanks! <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />

About the quick time pros, Jeromy Helfer told me that at real good tracks that they would hook up(NHRA & IHRA National and Divisional races), but they would have a hard time at tracks that not have National or Divisional races. He also said that I need to go back to the Goodyears and he is a Hoosier dealer. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

On my Hot Rod I need Goodyears in a 28 or M/t in a 29.5 tire. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Keep working on your set up on your Hot Rod and keep us posted. <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />
