Hoosiers SUCK!
Let me explain. I do not know how I won last night. Lucky I guess.
I ran these damn things from 20 lbs to 7 lbs. 1.6's to 2.08. Yes, I made Hal adjustments, we checked the video of every run. It just plain and simplely spun it's *** off no matter what tire pressure we ran.(I had 6 to 12 very good Bracket and Stock Elim racers watching my Hot Rod on every run) That really sucked. It cost me alot of money today. Iam very pissed!
Here is the deal on the Hoosier tire. They do not make a 6 speed tire in a 28x10x15. They only make a D05 compound for A4 Hot Rods. You need a D07 compound for a 6 speed. All you Boys that have 6 speeds and the Hoosier tire go ahead and run them, Me and my Goodyear slicks will beat your *** on Nov.2
So my bran new Hoosier slicks (28x10x15)are for sale. $250.00 takes them.(They are already off the rims and everything).
So, you say how does he know this? Well 4 of the best stock Elim guys in the country were watching my Hot Rod run all day. Two of them are in the top 10 in NHRA Stock Elim Natinal Championship points and are frickin Hoosier dealers. They both told me to call Carter Maxwell(Oklahoma City) in the morning and order some Goodyear 28x10x15 slicks!
This really Sucks! I got a great deal on the Hoosiers but they SUCK on a 6 speed.
I am a good racer and I was all over the tree and the 60 fts were terrible. We ran one 7.29 to a 7.4 frickin 7. I normally run 7 teens to 7.20's and 1.53 60fts to 1.58 60fts. Today my 60 fts were 1.60 to 2.08!
Goodyears will be order in the morning. We have a double track points race next Sunday.
3 back to back 1.69s which was really limited by my flexing torque arm which broke on the 3rd run and the fact I was bogging a tad since I didn't have a chance to dial them in
that was at 14 psi HOT
did you prep the tires prior to mounting the first time? (see my post in your other thread)
Yes, I did treat the slicks. I always do that on a new pair of slicks.
They just SUCK on my Hot Rod!
I cut 1.53's to 1.55's new to 1.55 to 1.58's after 85 runs on the Goodyears.
They are for sale(Hoosiers) and Goodyears our being ordered in the morning!
Later,
Coach
Yes Sir, I did ask about M/T tires the Heavy hitter Stock Elim guys said in a M6 Hot Rod you have to have the Goodyears.(Remember, the M6 shcoks the tires so hard when dumping the clutch at 6,500 rpms).
In my Hot Rod the Goodyears were killing them! The Hoosiers SUCK!
Great for a A4 Hot Rod.
Remember the Hoosiers are for sale. My lost is your gain.
Later,
Coach

Of course, I only need to dump this stroker at 4500 rpm with my 4.10 gears to do so

4 weeks ago I was cutting 1.53 60fts and last weekend at the same track I was cutting 1.56 to 1.58 6ofts.(Goodyears 28x10x15) Yesterday I was cutting 1.58's to 2.08 and she was spinning her *** off every run no matter what tire pressure or Hal adjustment I used. I do have video of every run. The Hoosiers suck on my M6 Hot Rod.
Some of you maybe able to get away with Hoosiers when you are dumping the clutch at 4,500 rpm insted of 6,500rpms. Yes, I even tried to launch at 5,000 rpms and it still did not work.
I just wanted to let everyone know about my experience with them. With all the help that I had watching the Hot Rod run, the consensus is go back to the Goodyears. Hell, I race more than most of you guys and I can't win if the Hot Rod is spinning it *** off. Iam at the track every weekend and I do win on a regular basis.
The Goodyears are 28x10x15 are ordered.
I believe the Colonel is running hoosiers and pulls 1.3x's leaving on the brake in his car. I know of a lot of other guys cutting awesome 60's with hoosiers.
Sent you mail.
Sean
How much do Goodyears cost? Just curious
Tony
Yep, Colonel uses Hoosiers to cut 1.3X times also. He is the original one that got me off of my Mickey's and onto Hoosiers. The Hoosiers feel MUCH more stable past the 1/8 mile than the Mickey's do.

Tony

I believe the Goodyears are about 40 bucks more per tire than the hoosiers. Are you having problems hooking with that new monster? high 1.4's dont sound to bad to me
Here is the deal. The track prep was pretty good. Everyone was running what they normally do. Iam the only stick car that bracket races. All the other Hot Rods are autos. My Hot Rod pulls the front wheels a foot to a foot an a half off the ground on every launch. This past weekend nothing. I have video of every run. Hell the starting line guys were even telling me to put Goodyears back on.
Hoosiers may work for you guys but for me and the Thunder Racing Hot Rod. It is Goodyears from now on.
The cost for Goodyears is $191.00 per tire.
Track prep was pretty good. Yes, I do blame the Hoosiers!
PS. I have 134 passes on my Hot Rod since the 1st of June. How many do you guys have?
Coach
AWESOME!!!

The softest compound tire is the Hoosier. It is to soft for a M6 launching at 6500 rpms.
Goodyears work best on my Hot Rod.
Coach
I'm picking up a set of 10" wide wheels so that I can use the WHOLE slick width
I'd bet that it has more to do with my car's heavier weight that helps it hook well.
