You could also atribute the high mph to the old timing system that Carlsbad uses. MPH lights are 60' before and 60' after the finish line, allowing a better trap speed per timeslip. The new timing systems put the lights 60' before and right on the finish line. Remember the old phrase, 'driving it out the back door'?

I'm pretty sure they use the same lights everyone else uses. There were plenty of guys running slower than expected MPH. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> A few months ago I ran 122 there and 122 at Bakersfield (Fomoso) in the same trim/DA.

What did you run the first time out with the heads/cam setup? I wonder if this kind of result can be duplicated by another MMS car?

Congrats on the new best Terry!

JP, your car could do it if you stepped up to a sticky tire and lost a whole lotta weight.

Problem is you would break your rear before you saw 11.5

My car will be quicker/faster than Terry's very soon. 12 Bolt with 4.30/4.56 gears and bigger slicks are in the works. Some much needed weight reduction and suspension optimization will soon follow. I need to do something...you are getting damn close to my best E.T. Brandin!

Terry,
I have a Q for you (Not a flame at all)
You have picked up an average of 5 mph from your last trip to the track.
I want an outline of what you changed. (I am a mph *****) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
superlid and filter
lighter front brakes?
glass hood?
No catback with extensions on the headers
lockup switch
Have you dynoed again since the superlid/filter

Am I missing anything important here?
heads/cam are the same, gears are the same, slicks are the same.
I would think the lockup is worth 2-3mph, the 90# in weight 1mph (rotational weight too right?)
maybe 1mph for the lid?
thanks for any clarification you can give me. I will buy that lid if it makes a difference. If not I will keep the whisper. Can you post pics of it again?
Cheers and congrats again!
Chris

Well one thing is alittle fuzzy.
ALL of u guys have made the TP4400 to be the MOST EFFICIENT converter on the planet. So how does this REAL EFFICIENT converter get u 3 MPH LOCKED UP.No F-ing way, unless its not as efficent as all of u keep telling us...

I say its worth 1.5 MPH just like my Vig...

That leaves 3.5 MPH for a lid,90lbs,Open headers.I can believe thats poss.

I bet he picked up most of his MPH from OPEN HEADERS though.

U figure 2 for the open headers,1 for the 90lbs and 2 for the lid/lockup switch....

I just wanna hear all the YANK guys tell me how its soooo efficent and how its been proven that u dont pick up mph locking it.

I still say the Vig/Yank race verters are with a tenth of each other. All this Yank is this and Yank is that. The guy proved it,Locking a verter WHOEVER makes it work wonders....

I know what happened....that bubble of N2O that was floating over HRP must have shifted over NorCal due to global heating or something <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Oh, the weight break down:

Front brakes : 30# (20# rotating)
Hood : 30#
Catback : 30# (already had my muffler off on the 10.99/123 run)

JS, I've never seen anyone who seems to swap teams as often as you. It almost sounds like you're downing Yank now. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> No matter, next month you'll be touting them again.

And no, I still don't believe you pick up more than a MPH by locking a TP4400. Why? Because I dynoed only 10 more RWHP locked than unlocked with both of my TP series converters on the same dyno back to back in each case.

Silver, I don't think PSJ, Tony, or I were slamming Terry in any way. Quite the contrary. Tony was just kidding, PSJ was just asking, and I was just congratulating. I did say that I assume he's honest didn't I? ...And then said " <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> "

Anyway, <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> again Terry. Oustanding! <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

I did lock it pretty early in 3rd gear (right at the 1/8th mile mark). Might have hurt ET a bit, but helped MPH. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

1-1.5, fine. Heck, trap speeds can vary that much from one run to the next for no appearent reason. But not 3 as JS stated here...

"So how does this REAL EFFICIENT converter get u 3 MPH LOCKED UP.No F-ing way, unless its not as efficent as all of u keep telling us..."

3 MPH from locking a Yank converter? Nah, don't think so. If you see that there were other factors involved.

MPH is for pussies, I ran 10.88. The fact that I run so much more MPH than everyone else just adds credability to my opinion that MPH alone is weak. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Colonel I never said I didnt like Yanks. As a matter of fact I will be returning my UT 4600 to a TP4400 very soon.

I'm gonna run the PI for a while and get some good data for my car.

I dont understand the "SWITCHING TEAM" comment? Can u be more specific?

I totally agree that u wont get 3MPH from a Yank. That was my point.BUT I do think 2MPH is attainable.

U on the other hand along with many Yank supporters MANY times have said,u wont get nadda from locking a Yank.Or does that slip your mind?

Well Chris P. said he got 2MPH.I'm sure there are more guys that do too.Now Terry proved its worth something too.

My point was that ANY verter locked up properly and at the right time will give a MPH improvement.

FWIW Colonel,I love Yanks.
I shouldve went TP4400 right from the start.

I tried an experiment but it didnt work,so its back to a TP for me but not until I try this VIG alittle while longer just for S&G.....

No reason to knock me or make accusations about me switching teams.I wont get into why I went in a different direction, but thats my GOD given right last time I checked?
