Thinking about upgrading the tire. Looking for the widest tire, probably in a 27 or 28" size. I already have the fender rolled, so that is not an issue.

Drag Radials? Slicks? Which are you talking about? Also, are you concerned with fitment on the car, or fitment on the rim? If you go with a tread that is much wider than the rim (say a 28x12.50) you will probably wear out the center of the tire a little quicker than the outside edges of the tire. Unless you are making a ton of power, I would think you could use a 28x10.50 MT ET Drag and cover any traction problems you might have. I have friends that dip into the 9s with 28x10.50s cutting low 1.40s/high 1.30s 60fts. The bigger tire may look cooler, but it will slow you down if you do not need the extra rubber for the launch. Bigger tire=more reciprocating weight, more drag on the top end.

Hey thats the tire the NHRA stock class racers prefer. Tons of side wall flex to help the tire hook up. Those guys rule, what are the LS1 stock class cars running?

DOT tire. I dont care about the look, per say, I'm looking for the ultimate traction. I've been running a ET Street 26x10.5, with the stock 10 bolt, that lasted about 140 runs before bolwing out the posi. Amaizingly enough, the dealer rebuilt the posi & rear end. I have a 12 bolt ordered, & should be here this next week.
Right now, if I launch at anything above 1100 RPM's, I litterally roast off the ET's. I have held back on a wider tire, because of the rear.

Now with the 12 bolt, I want to upgrade traction, and I was thinking of the 28x11.5, or the 12.5. But wasn't sure which would fit. I just read in a friends magazine, a guy running a 11.5 ET Street on a 15x8.5 rim, so that might be what I will go with.

The dyno showed 480 RWHP, which should even pick up a bit when I switch cams to a nitrous friendly grind. Thanks for the tips.

Making that much power I would try a 28x12.50 ET Street. This is the same size tire at a 28x10.50 ET Drag. Why MT rates their tires like that who knows, but the ET Street's width is the sidewall bulge and the ET Drags's width is the contact patch on the ground.
