Default Anybody using the Lakewood bellhousing?

In efforts to try and get my car legal to run in some real races I came across the Lakewood bellhousing for LS1s that is SFI rated. Anybody have any experience with one of these?

It's only for a 4-speed.

my thoughts on the subject....

Are tranny blankets legal in place of a scatter shield?

They make an LT1 version right? so the know the T-56 bolt pattern....

They make an LS1 to T-10, right? So they know the LS1 bolt pattern....
They will make a custon bellhousing, you can order it how you want it. With special throw-out bearings and such.

So why can't they make one??

Maybe a phone call is in order

FWIW, i've been booted from the track for no scatter shield.

Doesn't Judson Massengil use one? He runs a Jericho 4-speed I think. I'd guess he's using the Lakewood to bolt it up.

My guess is a SFI approved bellhousing for a t56 or lack of one has somthing to do with the stock bellhousing being a part of and adding to the structural integrety (spelling?) of the block.
How about everybody start a e-mail/ phone storm to lakewood. You never know what would happen.

Sombody get the address and numbers and do a post on the other boards.

I did alot of research on this when our car was still a m6, talked to Arny at SFI & got all the way to Lakewoods r & d dept. You may see one in a year or so. The only place I found was Trick Titanium 248-588-9430 Be sitting when they quote you a price.

I talked to the McLeod tech line. He indicated that they have the bellhousing designed. They are doing first article testing sometime soon, probably October. He said to expect and see the T56 bellhousing available sometime starting in January, maybe a little later depending on the results of the test. He also indicated that it's 7mm thick (.280"), which is going to be about 45 lbs of weight added (minus the stock weight, I think the stock housing is 12 lbs).
