Default Kirkey Seat Install

I purchased the seat brackets thru Amazon. These are made from steel so they are a little heavy, but the price was right $108.00. Fit was very good on driver side, but had to use 1/8 washers on front passenger side where they mount to floor. Passenger side was also a little warped and had to rebend by clamping them on picnic table to straiten.

Seats are the 17" wide Kirkey Pro Street Series 55 part # 55170. I am 5'7" medium build and the 17" wide is snug, probably could have gone with the 18" wide version #55185. I also used Kirkies seat brackets to mount seats.

Looks good. I used the Racecraft Inc brackets. I think they were $100-$125 for 2. super light weight.

If you’re over 6 ft tall you can use 2 of the factory seat studs just out a couple washers on them, and support them back of the seat off a rollbar/cage (as they are intended), and have no bracket at all. Lightest possible option.

Mount seat close to driveshaft tunnel as possible. This will allow clearance for roll bar at door. Some say seats wider than 18.5" are difficult to fit between roll bar and tunnel?

After i get the riding position correct, i will probably trim down the Amazon bracket to make lighter.

I'd like to see what you mean here as I'm 6'2. I've also got a pretty good reach. I've never tried drag seats before but I soon will be. When trying to get the width of the seat is this a measurement of ribcage or hips?

My pant size is 36-38 inch waist and the 17" wide Kirkey fits snug, not tight, but snug. My mid rib section is average size and the 17" fit is also snug in rib area, but not uncomfortable. I believe the 18" wide Kirkey would fit majority of racers.

Definitely gunna have to be a long bodied son of a gun or your comfortable just sitting low in the car. I’m not over 6’ but I am 6’ and I couldn’t deal with a sheet metal seat against the floor.

holy crap you gotta be swimming in that! I have a 32” waste and got the 15”. Without the cover I have extra wiggle room. Should be perfect with the seat cover.

They fit perfect. I could MAYBE fit in a 16" but I street drive this car. an hour driving in a 15" seat would prolly bruise your sides. no way I want something fitting that tight.

If you want it to do its job in a crash...you probably want it that tight.

But I Agree...street driving you need to have comfort, and a street car maybe doesn't need the same level of safety that a dedicated race car does

we tried it once in a car with no cage so it was only bolted to the floor and the car 60ft around a 1.3x and bent the **** outta seat and tried to rip it out of the floor lol. I wouldn’t try it.

once you put a 25.3 driver halo around and lose the headroom from that, and the required padding putting the seat low is the only way to keep your helmet off the bars.

I used the thinnest sfi padding I could get too to try to retain as much room as possible. Wasn’t a whole lot of options.
