I don't think the they recommend putting the 10.5" tires on an 8" rim. I believe the biggest tire you can put on an 8" rim is the 28X9X15 ET Drag. The 28X10.5X15 will fit in the tire well but will be close. If you start turning the tire fast enough, it will expand and start tearing up the plastic parts of the tire well.

don't put a 10.5" tire on the 8" rim. i did that for a bit before getting 15X 10's and it didn't fit or work right at all. go 15X10 with 7.5" backspacing for that spec tire.
you will have to so some work to fit those, mostly in the inner fender well. do a search on the topic here and in wheels/tires section there is plenty of info.

with a 9" slick on a 8" rim you should not have issues with the inner well really.
you will only need to watch for it hitting the lip up top when it grows on the big end, and the areas on the body in front of the tire and the bumper behind it.
every car is diff, you will need to put it on there and see what your car is like.
if you don't want to cut anything and its hitting, get adjustable LCA's and you'll be able to move the rear front and back to get it just right in those respects.
if its hitting up top when it grows then you may need to roll up the lip a bit. not a big deal at all.

I drive on 10.5x27x15 ET streets on 15x8s and race on 9x28x15 ET drags on 15x8s. Even though the 9x28s are advertised as 27.2 or something they were more like 27.6 when I measured the circumference.
There is no problem on the inside with 15x8s with 5.5 BS, I rubbed a little on the rear bumper on a 1/4 mile track so I had to shorten up the LCAs a little. Here is a couple pics with the 9x28s, they fit well and hook better then the 10.5x27 ET streets..

you can run a 28 x 10.5 x 15 on an 8" rim, it's a little extreme but not a problem. I have 4 friends that all run 8 inch rims with the same M/T slick. Going to a 9" or 10" rim will allow the slick to "expand" over a wider distance, thus less height and more width.
Glad to see you're adding a 9" Tally, guess I'll be arming the spray from now on if I line up against you
