Thunder Shootout...... something to think about....
My thoughts for those of you that feel the same way. Please remember that the times you see posted by people are normally their best done with their cars in lightweight trim. Also don't get hung up on time slips.... There will be 32 cars qualified in all but a few classes and from my experience not the fastest qualifier but the best driver and the most consitent car wins the class most of the time. Also if you make it to the quarter finals you're in the money.
Also just the experience of heads-up racing is where it's at!!!! I went to Bowling Green knowing that I would be in a class with cars much faster than mine but I still got on the track and had a ball. This type racing is where you make new friends and learn new things. I have pitted beside people at a race not knowing them and by the end of the day be best of friends. You don't have that kind experience sitting in the stands watching.
A note...... All classes except Pro Stock and Pro Outlaw and the Corvette classes must weigh a minimum of 3500 pounds minimum and this minimum will be strckly inforced. There will be new scales at No Problem and all cars will be required to cross the scales after every qualifieing and elimination pass. So be sure to have enough gas in your car to make the weight after you make a pass. No crewmembers will be allowed past the scales.

Drag racing is a very unpredictable sport. You never really know whats going to happen. Thats why they run the race.
Please, people this will be a great time and a great race. It is one time a year and this is a great track. Fun for all, great people and great racing. What a great combo and it is in the great weather of Nov.
Hope to see everyone there.
Shoot my car is running good, but my schedule allows me to go to the track maybe once...twice if I'm lucky , each month. I've cut a good light now and again, but consistently...hardly.
And the competition in my class....sheesh. But man...its gonna be one fun event, and we will be there for sure!
Can't wait!
It will be great meeting people and seeing all the famous HOT RODS rip down the 1/4 mile.
I sure hope my new set up is completed and installed by then. Man I'll be bummed if the time frame doesn't work out.
Shine those HOT RODS UP and have some fun at NO PROBLEM.

My car isn't going to be competitive at Thunder either, sure its fast, but its not 1% as extreme as some of these other BIG motor cars. I also don't have any plans to gut my 3600 car to meet the 3200 limit. Nevertheless, the event will still be fun. I hear there will be some internet grudge matches set up. Sign me up against PSJ
Oh yeah, another thing to think about: Those faster cars don't always stay in one piece.

Its all about good times and learning!!

Joe, is the track open on Friday? What time and format is it? Test/Tune or brackets?

The cool thing is they have a test and tune lane that runs out all night untill they close up. So you can run brackets if you feel like or move over to the test and tune lane and tell them you want to run someone and they will line you up. The owner is a stock eliminator racer who builds f-bodys for this class so he is a racer..running a race track. Does it get better? The gates open at 4 and time trails start at about 5 on frinday nights. Here is the track www.noproblemraceway.com
7 hours...man..Its usually like 4 and a half hours from here to houston. You should be able to make it faster than that.
Joe is correct about you never know. I went to bowling green just hoping to make the LT1 field...I ended up winning my class. You never know what will happen...win or loose thought this will be a great weekend.

Do you have a response to my email the other day? The onyl way I can make it is if you are able to pass me on the things we talked about.
Would like to attend if that car is finished. Looking real good right now.
Looks like this is shaping up to be a real nice race. I'll be coming down with the Douberly's, to help in the pits.
