Lightweight Battery Its time to replace my Delco. Any suggestions? Ive heard of the Hawker(same as Dynabatt) any other that are lighter than stock for a daily driver. I weighed a Optima red topit was 37lbs.What does the Delco weigh?Is the Hawker a realistic battery for a daily driver?? All input would be appreciated!! Quick, my stocker is gettin weak!!!BTW, which mount for a Hawker, custom??
Re: Lightweight Battery This weekend I am going to use my Dynabatt for the first time. I got a mount from Thunder. It is polished and should look nice.
I am interested to see if it can hold the test of sitting for 3-5 days without being ran. I have heard that it isn't a daily driver battery, but I have also heard of people doing it with success.

Re: Lightweight Battery I put one in my car few weeks ago. Did some research on this board, and couple people told me it runs fine on a daily driver. So far I have no problems either. It fits perfectly (on a side). I got a perforated anodized (galvanized) metal strip from Ace for $7 (? - that IS expensive for a piece of metal, but I'd spend more on a gas looking for a cheaper alternative) and made a holder for the battery; it is attached by factory bolt. Also factory terminals are attached with battery bolts and couple washers; no need for any special bolts/connectors (I was actually looking for those, somebody mentioned autozone have them, I checked two in my area - they don't). I believe raughhummer (?) has a picture on his webpage.

They had a 15% sale last month, not sure, if they still run it.
I got Part# 5575A, though it could have been a better idea to get part C with just bolts and washers - that's what I ended up using anyway [adding my own washers]. Didn't use supplied terminals.

Re: Lightweight Battery Got mine from Thunder last year. The battery will work fine on the street, providing you do not leave anything on when you shut the car off. That included leaving doors orthe hatch open for long periods. My car drained itself in the pits when I had the fans on, trying to cool the car. So, be aware of this. If it drains, find the source. If you are aware, it will do just fine. BTW, I used some cheap muffler strap steel, with the holes in it, to make a strap. There is a bolt hole right there on the firewall, and then the stock battery tie down. Works great. Cost, free.. Got it at the mufler shop when getting work done. They throw the stuff away. Though my car is a Cobra, you could easily do an install similar to mine. Here are a couple of pics...

Re: Lightweight Battery Sh#t. Is Hawker and Dynabatt is really the same thing?? I paid $146 for the dynabatt, including shipping. So what is going on? Are people, who buy dynabatt, really get screwed?? I read description, they do look the same, however "performance distributors" say dynabatt's dry cell, and "portable power systems" say hawker genesis is a sealed acid lead battery? Does hawker have the same capacity (A*hours) as dynabatt?

Re: Lightweight Battery shoot... they do look the same, there is hawker with 16 amp*hours ($69) which seems to be identical to dynabatt, if we assume that dry cell = sealed acid lead... which does seem like a small difference in terminology... and perf. distributors run you a nice sale at $131.75 + shipping = $146. I feel like a sucker...
